http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt119/DarkKnightX5/MetsHotStoveThread.png This is where we can put all the rumors and personal wants and wishlist's that are sure to be coming in a lot now that the season is officially over. This is a very important off season for this franchise. We are in limbo here. There still hasn't been a clear cut answer as to whether Omar is gonna be given the freedom with the payroll to go out and do what needs to be done to complete our team. I hope that addresses the starting pitching (at least 2 guys), bullpen (another couple arms), left field, catcher and first base.

BY MICHAEL GANCI When the news broke about Carlos Beltran’s micro fracture surgery, it took a lot of will power for me not to rant and rave into oblivion, so I decided to be rational for once in my life. I waited for the facts to develop, and the Mets proved to be the wrong doers in the whole equation. Shocking. So I began to think to myself. I just write an article about how expendable Angel Pagan is, and then this happens, and Pagan becomes a much more important part of the overall puzzle. But would that be the smartest thing to do?
you kidding me???? http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2793/4313267963_52215e560f.jpg

The Mets have a deal to acquire Gary Matthews Jr. from the Los Angeles Angels according to an American League source. Matthews has two years at $10 million a year remaining on his contract and the Angels will be paying the vast portion of that money. It is not yet known which player the Angels will get in return, though minor leagues were discussed and the Angels did show interest in relief pitcher Brian Stokes. The Mets are concerned about Carlos Beltran, their star centerfielder who underwent knee surgery last week and is expected to miss the first three weeks of the season. Matthews hasigned a five-year, $50 million with the Angels before the 2007 season but has mostly struggled in Los Angeles. He batted .248 in his three seasons there and just .250 in a part-time role in 2009. He has spent 11 seasons in the majors with six teams, including a two-game cameo with the Mets back in 2002. BY MICHAEL GANCI Well it seems like the Mets heard my plea earlier. They offered Bengie Molina a “take it or leave it” offer and he rejected, and then he proceeded to re-sign with the Giants for less money than the Mets were offering, and all I have to say is “good riddance”. It got me thinking though. I am sure Omar will continue to explore options with trades and free agency, but the Mets aren’t really in a bad place with where they are at right now. They don’t really need to sign a catcher, and I say that because I don’t think any of the free agent options are all that enticing. They might be in on Joel Pineiro, but I think a team like the Angels or the Dodgers will outbid the Mets for his services. Word around the internet says that the Angels want Joel pretty badly, and I am positive that the Mets won’t get in a money war after they just handed a ton of money to Jason Bay.
