I know I said this earlier and it never got any traction, but I'm a strong believer Wolf is a solid option for the Yanks rotation. Lefty, consistent, not too expensive.

Wolf is a guy who won't blow you away, but doesn't seem to have good start one bad start another type of cycles. Saw several of his games this year, and his bullpen cost him about 8 or so wins.

I don't know what Wolf is looking for, but he isn't a young up and comer. He is what he is and I don't think he'll be getting a very big raise.

Not worried about the money, as it looks like he'll come fairly cheap. More worried about the length of a deal, seeing as how he's 32.
I don't think it would be much a bargaining deal. I think Cashman should make an offer they feel comfortable with, and it's take it or leave it. Wolf certainly is not the kind of player you set your sights on and acquire at any cost, but one I think would be a solid addition to the back of the rotation. He may not want to go to NY being he is a Southern California native and would probably prefer staying in the area.

We're talking about Randy Wolf right? The career 4.13 ERA pitcher from the NL? i dont think he could cut it in the AL East, i think he'd get taken every game. I'd rather give he ball to Joba or Hughes in a 5th man spot.
Yeah, Randy Wolf, just for the record I'm not saying he's a beast, but he's consistent, lefty, healthy and available on the cheap side. If Andy returns, he's less important. But if Andy hangs it up, the Yanks NEED a lefty.

His ERA would most likely go up going from the NL West to AL East. But how much? And seeing as how he may come cheap, and for no more than 2-3 years, is it worth the risk? Maybe so.
A left-hander that can eat 190+ innings, and keep the team in the game. That's all the Yankees really would need, provided Andy does return. It's not like we're talking about Randy being a 1 or 2 starter for the team. Hell...not even a #3.
I understand that logic but isnt that the same bargain shopping that got us in trouble in the past? How can a guy with a 4+ ERA in the NL west go deep into games in the American League? He'll get eaten alive, that number will sit more closer to 5, why not just give Joba or Phil the ball and let the work it out?
No pitcher in the AL east who gives up 4-5 runs a game is going to stay in the game and give the Yankees a competitive advatage to win in the regular and post season.
We need a solid SP who can win games to stay competitive to gives us a good chance at more rings, and besides if the Yankees surrender Matsui to free agency and bring Damon back in LF then make a play for Randy Wolf, how can we lose offensive production and score more than5 or 6 runs to help Randy Wolf win on a consistent basis?
We need someone who has the ability to progress into a top 2 or 3 pitcher
my opinion:
1. LF - Holliday
2. DH/4th outfielder - Damon or Matsui (kind of leaning more toward Matsui after his performance)
3. Ink Chapman
4. See what it would take to land to Felix or Halladay? is either team high on Ajax, if so package him without names like Joba/hughes/ or montero. Can it get done, at least make a push for it?
