of hearing everybody say "Next Year". Fuck next year I want to fucking win now. I'm not blessed with being old enough to have seen the Dodgers win a World Series, I'm a young adult who has only ever known shitty Dodgers baseball.

Fuck man, people can see I'm visibly irritated and they tell me next year is our time and that just fucking irritates me more. I'm so sick of next year.

Let it out man. We root for the Dodgers because of their rich history, and that history is slowly becoming ancient. We need to win, and now.

I hear you. I am as heartbroken as you. The only thing that makes me feel any better is
our starting lineup was once: Gordon Gwynn Ethier Hairston Loney Herrera Uribe Ellis P

Think about this offseason and fixing the pitching to go with our new lineup. Our new owners want to win.

Here's how I look at it: At the beginning of the year, we're still under McCourt ownership; and have no idea who is buying the team. We all agreed that it would take years to turn what McCourt ran into the ground to fix. That was just common sense. We go into the season with our 2011 squad and they have a miraculous start so we all start looking towards October. New ownership comes in and immediately makes an impact by stadium renovations and investing in the draft/scouting. May comes around, and Matt Kemp (the best player in the MLB at the time) goes down for about 2 months. Our now 2011 squad that relied solely on Matt Kemp, is now made up of Andre Ethier and a bunch of nobodies. Andre then gets hurt and we play with a triple A team for about 2-3 weeks. Deadline rolls around and we get Hanley and Victorino. Later August is here and new ownership pushes a huge deal for Adrian Gonzalez, Josh Beckett, and Carl Crawford.

Now let's take a break here. Look at the beginning of my post to right now. We started out not knowing what the fuck was going on to having a team with Kemp, Ethier, Kershaw, Beckett, Gonzalez, Ramirez, and Hanley. Not to mention we also have players like Billingsley and Crawford who didn't even get their shot this year. Not trying to make excuses, but Kershaw wasn't the same at the beginning of the season, Kemp played injured for about 75% of the games he played in this year, Ethier played injured, Billingsley/Crawford were hurt, it took Gonzo a few weeks to adjust, etc.

Even though we added all these players, I still believe it was irrational to view this team as a bust if they didn't make the playoffs. Shame on the writers too, because all they did in March was say how it could take 5-10 years for a new ownership to turn this franchise around. Well guess what, we get turned into an elite team at the wrong time, mixed in with some injuries and we fell just short. For once the future looks bright for us Dodger fans and this has been the first time in awhile we've had anything to be excited about.

Next year is completely more realistic for this team to succeed. Ramirez, Gonzalez, Beckett, Crawford, etc. get that whole year to know they're staying put. Billingsley and Crawford coming back will be huge. Plus, you just know we're adding some pieces this offseason. I know it's frustrating as hell, but next year is much more realistic for this team. Like I said before, even with all the injuries and uncertainties, this team cracks 85 wins. You gotta figure this team will be AT LEAST 10 games better next year. Then you're talking about a 95 win team.

This one is def a tough one to swallow. Leaving so many chances out there, bone headed plays and managerial decisions, losing to the worst possible opponent on our home field. Sure tonight sucked but the whole month of September was our downfall. I'm pretty pissed off right now but unfortunately all we can do is look towards next year because 2012 is over. It sucks, it hurts, it's down right frustrating with all the talent we have and to come up short is inexcusable but like I mentioned before this will only fuel the fire and leave that lasting memory in their heads. A full offseason together as well as spring training and this team will be what we expected when we made all those trades. Let it all out now because next year will be a different story, I am almost positive.

    2013 dodgers.....kickin ass and taking names.....ftw!

just don't get how we could play sub .500 for the second half. we played lazy lethargic baseball that seemed like we were just passing time and collecting paychecks. something big still missing here. is it dbb? idk but i think next year will tell the story.

Well Don's staying put, so we might as well find someone or thing else to blame.

I don't blame Don for the season as a whole. He only has so much impact. But he's a bad Xs and Os manager. No ifs ands or buts. He's terrible.

Totally random question, but are you coming to spring training so we can do some heavy mobbing and cheer on the Dodgers?

Oh you're coming; and so is Chris. Hell, I want everyone on this board to go to a spring training game and I'll meet them at the stadium.

You have the right to your opinion but I disagree, there is plenty of ifs ands or buts.
He's not terrible at all IMO, his players are. Especially his star player Matt Kemp that had many chances to win this game and many others but always just disappears in the big games like he always has. He's about a .220 hitter in post season games, and these last two were post season as far as I'm concerned. He just went into trying to hard and chokemode once again. Sure he can put up the gaudy numbers in April when we were not expoected to get 2nd place or late last year when we were 40 games back, or last week when everyone thought we were done again. Everytime the season is on the line, he is an easy out swinging at the shittiest of pitches.

ARod used to be like that, he then fixed that probem...I hope Kemp will or else we will have an easy out batting 3rd in every big game from now on.

Everything you said isn't Xs and Os though, and that's why I said Don really cannot control too much of what happens. He can't get Kemp to be clutch when it matters because he isn't Matt. Only Matt can figure that out. So you kind of made part of my point. Don isn't the reason for complete failure or complete success. As an isolated critique of his ability to make in-game decisions, I'm not a fan.

I like him. He knows more about the game than us (obviously). But "great manager" he is not at this point. We just have to hope he develops into one in due time. He's just starting out. It's a tough trade that takes time.

I hate Jeffy so much but the one thing I have a hard time doing is defending Don's strategy.

Either way, a manager gets too much credit during good times, and too much blame during bad times. It falls on the players at the end of the day.
