And part of the deal was that in Cincinatti, he has to pronounce his name correctly, and not try to hide his Hispanic ethnicity, for whatever reason. Where is Matt Diaz? I mean Die AZZ?

Berkman goes to 1st when Craig comes back but a sick line-up for sure even though they gave 2 years guaranteed with a full no trade clause to a guy who isn't the player he once was. Smacks of desperation on the Cards part but hey if hey get any kind of pitching they will be a favorite along with the Phillies in the NL.

I guarantee that Beltran hits more than 50 HRs and drives in more than 150 RBI during his two years with the Cards if he stays healthy.

    with all that protection
pitchers have to pick their poison

Oh, I wish we could get in on this. Ned would never go here, though - Trumbo is ten or fifteen years away from his downside...

I wouldn't want Trumbo at all. Morales? Maybe. Trumbo? Nah son.

I would love Trumbo. His Ks will decrease and his OBP will increase as he sees more time in the league. Also, he would do well in the NL.

Trumbo, year one = 29 big ones. You can all go fuck yourselves.

    Merry Christmas!

Exactly. that would have been 2nd by like 9 last year. Take a look at what Lopes did for Kemp as far as taking walks and using them to his advantage. I would LOVE Trumbo. He is Mark Reynolds but younger. And, imagine the fastballs he would get.

Yep. Rookies require patience. Seriously, do we no longer recognize massive upside when we see it? Are we taking on the Ned mindset - of constantly hunting around for old farts on their downside to fill in the blanks every year? Man, I'd love to have a new crop of blue chips - power chips!

I have confidence in Sands - but not so much at 1B, as he's put in most of his time in the outfield. In fact, I'm wondering if the move to the infield has messed him up a bit - may have been a bad idea. Anyway, he'll have to earn his way back onto the Dodgers with the stick. I'm sure he will - and when he does find his swing on the major league level - Rivera's days are numbered. (Or, as fate would have it, Loney's days are numbered. See how it goes.) But, bottom line, I'll take all the young monsters I can get.
