When you got money who the fuck cares where you spend it :vrp:
Whether he gets 7/210 or 7/160 you do realize 50M over 7 years is nothing to the niggas in charge.
Their assets all together are worth 180 buh buh buh billion dollars
Theres no salary cap so what the fuck matters. We aint the Marlins or Padres bruh. The only way we lose is if he walks. Idc if you drop 400M on him, just keep my nigga Kershaw a Dodger.

Quit all your rational thinking. We got money, bitches. :vrp:

beckett thinks pretty highly of him
    fwiw...

Beckett had high praise Sunday for Clayton Kershaw, who is 5-2 with a 1.35 ERA in eight starts since Beckett went under the knife July 10.

"I tell everybody that as good as you think he is, he is better than that," Beckett said. "And that's hard to do, because everybody thinks he's really good."

Kershaw leads the Major Leagues with a 1.72 ERA and is a leading candidate to win the National League Cy Young Award for the second time.

"I know he hasn't been doing it that long, but he could possibly be the best pitcher ever -- he's that good," Beckett said. "Coming over here last year, I knew he was good. But he exceeded my expectations."

Fuck it I'm in to pay this greedy fucking stud. ;)

We'll give him a quarter billion, handcuff our payroll, and he'll give it to Africa(then dispelling the label of greedy). As long as we win few WS, IDGAF anymore.

Well I still don't like it for so many reasons. I hate it actually. Doyer kinda persuaded me with the age argument.

We can't, and won't lose Kershaw.

They will lock him up for whatever it takes. I say give him whatever he wants and buy him a small village in Africa where he can convert everyone to Christianity.

Seriously if this kid wants 10/250 and a blow job from Miley Cyrus you make that happen.

The accepted prime is not 23 it's more like 27 and 28 and his fastball isn't what he relies on and it isn't over powering unlike Verlander. He's doesn't throw his other pitches consistently in the low to mid 90's like Velander as well (Verlander has often been brought up as an example of a cautionary tale) Clayton's mechanics are nearly flawless and he is a pitcher not a thrower, even if he loses velocity he is good enough to adjust accordingly. If you are talking literally, then yes he will get worse but his worse (horrible grammar) is a hell of a lot better than most guys best!! Just stop the madness before white coats pull up to your doors.

I specifically said that I wasn't suggesting that he wouldn't be great for years to come. I was only stating that expecting him to be even better than he is now is idealistic.

And you essentially repeated what I said in the bold. Not sure what you're arguing...

I see. Agree to disagree. Only time will tell but to lose him over money would be tragically stupid.

The more I look at what Uribe has done compared to not only 3B around the league but also free agents to be, the more I realize it's probably going to take more cash than we want to keep him around, not to mention he'd probably need to know he's a starter since another MLB team could guarantee him to be a starter. He's going to be the free agent 3B coming off the best year, and given what some meh 3B were given this past offseason, Uribe's agent could probably see himself get a 2 year deal worth a damn good amount

How much are you thinking? I'd be stunned if he got more than 5 per fwiw.

As well as Uribe has played, he's got only 7 HRs and 36 RBIs this year, after having 2 HRs last year and 4 HRs the year prior. Put it this way, he has FAR outperformed the last two years, and still ranks 20th in OPS for 3b in the majors. This is as a part time player, and if he regresses a little, he'll be at the bottom again, as opposed to just near it.

I dont think that kind of track record is going to command much money. 90% of his salary will be based on his glove and well deserved. No team will pay him for his bat though. I love Uribe this year, so I hope we keep him, and the only scenario I see him leaving is because they Dodgers found a replacement and decided not to offer him. I doubt somebody outbides us for Uribe.

well, my memory failed me. I thought Keppinger this past offseason got 2 years, 12 mil total but it was 3 yers and I thought Hannahans was 4 mil per, not total.

With that in mind, my thoughts change a bit... 5 mil does seem like the ceiling he could get in any multi year deal, a 1 year deal he might nab 6 like Mark Reynolds.

Man, getting Eric Chavez would be perfect next year when we look at it. Having one of Mark or Uribe (probbly Uribe) paired with Chavez at 3B makes the position real good... Of course, a lot of teams might want Chavez now but now I want that platoon bad for next year mixed with either if we get Guerrero or not for 2B or trade for Kinsler.

I'd be down with that if there wasn't a better option. I'm hoping we can fill one of 2B or 3B with the OF we decide to trade, and then fill the other one in FA or a trade. I still really want to talk to the Cardinals about Freese, with Carpenter and Wong there.

He looks like he is enjoying himself which could lower his price.

Anything more than a 1 year deal and tell Uribe to fuck off. We've all seen how he plays in non contract years.

Something I did not know until Steiner said it on the radio. Yasiel is the 2nd quickest to 100 hits in major league history or did I hear it wrong.
