So what is the word on Seager once he gets here? 2B? 3B? SS?

3rd. He's still developing physically and based on his brother's size they predict 3rd just like his brother.

He hasn't moved from SS since his pro debut and he may not be moving, especially if we re-sign Hanley.

PCL is too well known for being a hitter friendly league so testing him at AA would be more advantageous but the FO knows best (I hope).

Well that was my point, you send him to AA and he hits .230 and his confidence goes down?

Although Pederson did ok for the league last year...

Any level he progresses into will test his confidence but I'm sure the coaches will keep him from losing it and he always has his brother to lean on.

It's a test. AA is the ultimate test for the minor leagues because AAA has lots of dudes who are 27 and sad (not even joking). It's not the best experience for young guys all the time.

Also, I think Seager can play SS for the foreseeable future. He's so smooth defensively and makes all the routine plays. Range is fringe but it's not worse than Hanley that's for sure.

Some portions of a scouting report I found:
For now, we project. Corey Seager has a muscular build — bigger than his brother was at the same age — but still has plenty of room to add weight and strength.
Seager has a great feel for the game. He seems to understand nuances that many his age don’t grasp yet. He strikes a good balance between aggressiveness and patience and his overall approach is sound. The following is what I wrote down watching his swing…no format, just my thoughts as I watched:
Pretty left handed swing. Quick hands. Late acceleration. Very good bat speed. Fliner stroke — produces line drives, fly balls and the in between. Keeps bat head in the zone for a good length of time. Bat stays pretty close to body on his swing, but path to the hitting zone a little long. Might need to shorten up as a pro, which is an adjustment I’m sure he can make. He can get anxious. Has to work on staying back, allowing the ball to travel, and then unloading.
So overall a lot to like with his swing.
In the field, he has smooth actions and nice soft hands. Right now he can play each infield position. Looked quite comfortable at 2nd base. But you have to figure as he adds size, he’s likely to shift over to third base.
As a runner he has better than average speed, but again with added size, he’s likely to slow down. Still, I figure he’d be good for 10 stolen bases annually.

A.J. Ellis hurt his ankle celebrating Josh Beckett’s no-hitter

Dodgers catcher A.J. Ellis returned from a knee injury 10 days ago, but now he’s headed back to the disabled list after injuring his ankle while celebratingJosh Beckett‘s no-hitter last night.
Ellis wasn’t even behind the plate for Beckett’s gem. That job went to Drew Butera, who caught his second no-hitter, but Mark Saxon of ESPN Los Angeles reports that Ellis sprained his right ankle when he landed on Butera’s discarded catcher’s mask during the celebration.
Tim Federowicz has been called up from Triple-A to replace Ellis on the roster and he’ll split time with Butera. Ellis hasn’t hit much since last season, batting .231 with a .669 OPS in 130 games, but that makes him look like Mike Piazza offensively compared to Butera’s career .185 batting average and .508 OPS.
Oh, and there’s this: Miguel Olivo was playing catcher for the Dodgers at Triple-A and hitting .368 there, so if he hadn’t gone and bitten off teammate Alex Guerrero’s ear there’s a strong chance he’d be the Dodgers’ starting catcher right now.

Ellis again proves himself an unfortunate oaf... stepping on a discarded mask? Completely unaware of his surroundings... :smh:

But WTF is up with this idiot Olivo? Biting off ears? WTF is with the Mike Tyson incarnation? moron...:banghead:

That could be the injury that gets Joc to The Show. We've all been waiting for an OFer to get hurt. As awful as that is. It's almost been the one year anniversary of Puig's call up. Get Joc to the majors now and let him start every game. Maybe he can energize the team like Puig did last year.

We still got Kemp, so I doubt it. And I think Beckett might have energized this team. Won 3 straight.

I was actually just happy to have Ethier step it up today... both of those hits were solid swings. too little so far but not too late yet...

And lets not forget about SVS getting OF time but I'd totally bring in Joc at this point.
