That was the difference in 2010, do you think he was doing those kinds of workouts in the offseason before 2010 with Rihanna? No, those were the workouts he did before 2009 and 2011 when he made huge improvements. I can't wait to see what he's got in store for us in 2012.

I remember years ago seeing an offseason workout video on Jerry Rice and him saying that it was what kept him the best in the game. This Kemp video reminds me a lot of that Rice video. I just wish all the Dodgers had his drive.

Sellers reportedly suffered a "serious" groin injury during winter ball, but it sounds as if he'll be ready for the start of the season, reports the Dodgers' official site.

The Red Sox are willing to give Roy Oswalt a one-year deal worth $5-$7MM, but the veteran remains reluctant to pitch in Boston. However, as we've heard elsewhere, the 34-year-old hasn't ruled Boston out.

WTF? He wants to play in a pitcher friendly park and we are not at least offering 6mil/1 year? If he is 90 percent he is better than Harang and Capuano. I think we are stupid. Kershaw/Bills/Lilly/Oswalt/Harang/Capuano....how fucking hard is this? If Rubby comes back hard and Eovaldi look good, you trade the excess for a hitter or reliever. This is simple shit folks.

But you're going into this with probably a fairly high IQ , SDF... you are miles ahead of CollettiCo. You have to look at things from the Ned perspective...like...duhh. Drool...Uribe ! Slurp!
As long as he is here, the mysteries will continue....the "simple shit" to most of us will continue to elude him...it will just never happen.
Like Rick and Ilsa "always had Paris", Ned will always have Bradley for Ethier. And that one deal has made his Dodger career.
All you hear is "he's under financial restraints" from his supporters.
Everyone of those people seem to forget what he did when Frank spent as much as anyone on ballplayers...he bought shit with it. Useless shit. Staggeringly expensive shit. Just Plain Shit.

    meh...

Indians Agree To Sign Jon Garland
By Mike Axisa [February 13 at 10:38am CST]

The Indians have agreed to sign Jon Garland to a minor league contract reports the AP (via ESPN). He will take his physical at the team's complex in Arizona next week. Garland's cousin Andrew Rickli tweeted news of an agreement between the two sides two days ago. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports and ESPN's Buster Olney reported that they were nearing a deal this morning (all Twitter links). Garland is an LSW Baseball client.

Garland, 32, made nine starts for the Dodgers to begin the 2011 season before having July surgery to clean out debris in his shoulder. Two weeks after the surgery, he said he told MLB.com's Ken Gurnick and AJ Cassavell that he expected to be ready for spring training...

"I was very satisfied with what the doctor said," said Garland. "He's upbeat. The labrum was almost pristine. The cuff was a little worse than he thought, but a lot of what he found was just scar tissue and bursitis. He shaved down the bone so things move smoothly. A layoff like this can only help the rest of my body."

The Indians added Derek Lowe and Kevin Slowey this offseason, with the latter likely battling for the fifth starter job with David Huff and Jeanmar Gomez, according to MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. Roberto Hernandez Heredia (a.k.a. Fausto Carmona) who was previously penciled in, is an unknown due to false identity charges.

Prior to 2011, Garland had posted nine consecutive seasons of at least 190 regular season innings. He signed a team-friendly one-year, $5MM deal with the Dodgers in November of 2010. At that time it seemed likely to become a two-year, $13MM contract, as an $8MM option for 2012 was to vest with Garland's customary 190 innings. Now it seems the California native may wind up back in the AL Central, after spending the first eight seasons of his career with the White Sox.

Well, a testament to Ned's uncanny timing when signing veterans. Always seems to get 'em when they are ready to collapse or get injured or get caught juicing. Or they just suck as soon as the Dodger Blue goes on. For whatever inexplicable reasons. Amazing.

It is when a player is most at risk for the problems that you mention thatn he is at the price point Ned is willing to pay. Ned is calendar challenged and when their agent gives him their stats for the previous five years he usually fails to note that the most recent presented season was five years earlier. Other GMs want to pay for where you are at now, Ned prefers to sign based on five years earlier. Ned has accomplished nothing worth a turd over the last five years. Who the hell other than Dre has he signed or traded for who is seriously expected to be a major impact next year? I am not counting the most recent signing but he sure as hell has not built a very competitive team based on long term anything beyond two years at best. With the exception of Dre. Frank needs to go and Ned needs to be let go day one.

He does get lucky with those every once in a while, like in the case of Randy Wolf that had a bounce back year with us. However, those are so few and far between. Ned needs to go.

Many of us will not be able to accept change and moving forward if Ned is still the GM.
