    IMO the Cespedes deal was what caused the A's to tank; terrible move.

    I think he's referring to the original Cespedes signing, not the trade (not saying he wasn't involved with the latter but yeah)

    If you haven't noticed, most, if not all, teams have been influenced by Beanes stuff. Guys like Epstein, who won multiple AL pennants, and Friedman, who won one, have been influenced heavily. Most teams have analytical departments, so you could say "money ball" has won every AL pennant

    And if you don't think what the A's have done under beane is impressive then I don't know. Sure, no AL pennants but to even be there to begin with with that payroll and sure it fucks up in the playoffs but the GM constructs a team to make it to the playoffs

    If we sign him as our GM, we won't be playing moneyball, either. We'll have a guy who uses advanced stats though, which is what helped the Red Sox win two titles under Epstein's tenure.

    Winning a title in baseball is extremely hard to state the obvious. So much fluky, random shit can occur in 1-2 games and ruin everything. Look what happened to Oakland in the WC vs KC for instance. The ability to consistently put a good team on the field with a lack of funds is very impressive considering he'd have those funds in LA.

    Dodgers To Hire Farhan Zaidi As GM; Will Also Add Josh Byrnes

    The Dodgers will name former Athletics assistant GM Farhan Zaidi the team’s new general manager this week, according to a tweet from Ken Gurnick of MLB.com. Zaidi, 37, had been with Oakland for ten years and was promoted just before last season.

    The club is also set to add former Padres GM Josh Byrnes, Mark Saxon of the Los Angeles Times reports on Twitter. Though it is not yet known what position he will hold, his addition is a “done deal,” per Saxon.

    Combined, the addition of the well-regarded Zaidi and experienced Byrnes represent major additions to the front office of new president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman.
