within reason. if there aren't even enough lights to prevent a trip and fall, which there are not btw, then you bear responsibility. and anyone who has ever gone to a DS game has noticed the "security" that is omnipresent prior to games is nowhere to be seen after. maybe its always been that way but its really no excuse. guarantee if that was a family member of yours you feel differently esp knowing the owner was fielding "security" to increase his concession profits before but not after the game.
its ALWAYS been that way, it was worse in the past if anything police and security presence has increased the past decade as well as what you can and cannot do at the park even what is deemed socially acceptable has changed btw the whole 'enough lights to prevent a trip and fall' is exactly what i was talking about when i said our country pisses me off sometimes seriously do you have a fear of falling due to not enough light at the stadium? whenever people bring up these bullshit excuses it makes it crystal clear they have no idea what they are talking about so they just pull something out of their ass and then a bunch of people repeat it ultimately the fan experience suffers thanks to everyone bitching about existential threats
rube you are exactly the kind of guy that advocates not doing things the same way over and over. just saying its always been that way is not an excuse for the owner of multi million dollar venture. if there had been a financial gain for him it would have happened just like the pre game "security". its his property. come to the next lair event and see all the outdoor lighting installed at my expense. you think i did it cause i like how it looks? well actually i do but its not why i did it. adequate lighting is not an existential threat and every fucking grocery store knows it.
Many years ago in my much younger day I managed security at a major entertainment venue and we were more worried about them hurting someone causing us to get sued then we were about them protecting people. Most of them were for show and simple orderly functions like checking for booze etc and monitoring. I had a team who could handle themselves and if needed could be assembled for real security duty under strict supervision. In other words much of security could call for the real security if needed. The folks who could handle themselves were dispersed but could be assembled with one call of the walkie talkie if they could hear.
The only truly effective security at DS would be sniper teams. You must kill the most violent fans out in the parking lot each night before they have a chance to cause security problems inside/outside the stadium. Lock and load, baby!
I think it's perfectly OK for a family to sue with an injury of this magnitude. I'm not saying they should win, but if people don't question safety now and then what's to keep us from turning into European soccer? The question will be if Dodger Stadium security was in-line with other venues/events of it's size.
you missed my point 'lighting' is not the issue with dodger stadium there are dark parts in all large buildings, there are blind corners... dont linger there common sense the problems have nothing to do with lighting but lighting will always be brought up or bathrooms because no stadium has enough bathrooms or enough lighting just like you cant win the war on drugs or the war on terror
i think you miss the point. you used the old man argument of "its always been this way" to make your point. that never holds water. and it has everything to do with lighting and actual security. as mouse said, the real test would be how it compares to other stadiums and events. i guarantee you DS is behind in every facet. i remember taking family from out of town and having them comment how dark it was as we moved out into the parking lots. and we all know there wasn't anyone save the possible good samaritan to save you should something go wrong. thats just totally unacceptable for a venue the size of DS. just because omalley was too cheap to put in lights doesn't make spank less culpable. i'm sure there are documents out there from the security staff or recommendations he ignored. just watch. comparing this to the war on drugs or terror is pretty absurd even for you rube.
I don't blame the family and lawyers for ripping the security situation. But this whole personal bashing into Frank seems a little too much.
diablo walk this back a bit and my response? "its ALWAYS been that way, it was worse in the past" you took that the wrong way completely the rest of that post spells it out even further "if anything police and security presence has increased the past decade as well as what you can and cannot do at the park even what is deemed socially acceptable has changed" so how can it ALWAYS be the SAME while also be WORSE in the past? the argument is not that lighting is bad, the argument is the lighting is bad will ALWAYS be an argument used no matter how many times more lights are put in 10 years later it wont be enough lights and 50 years later people will still say the place needs more lights no matter how many terrorist we kill we will want to kill more, even after we take out their leadership these are existential concepts that are of course 100% real, its just laughably absurd to believe that its feasible to 'beat' terrorism, just like how its absurd to think you are going to be able to protect every inch of a giant sports complex... no matter how many thousands of floodlights, armed guards, trained police dogs, or surveillance cameras you install or you end up crossing the point of no return, which is giving up freedom for security a day at dodger stadium is supposed to be a day at a park of recreation not a camp of concentration
ok now i see the comparison you were making and its still silly. adequate lighting is and always will be the same. they dont continue adding lights to places that have lighting. giant dark spots require lights. nvm
lets say the light fairy increases lighting by 10% this season, what then? next time something happens at dodger stadium "this place needs more lights and cops" there will be a stadium soon with seat cams that way every fan can be monitored to make sure they cheer their team on in the proper safe and sane method allowed by the MLB
I don't think that's true at all. It's a complete reach. There is NO LIGHTING in the 300 acre lot. Shopping malls have better lighting.
Maybe, at the very least, if an IP address from San Francisco tries to purchase LF PAV seats, the site should display a pop-up saying "Are you sure?"
Pardon my ignorance but why are we talking lighting in regards to this situation? Was it that late in the day when he was assaulted?
Sometime in between 8 and 9 PM. I get why there are complaints, but just because if there were lights, doesn't mean the same thing would've happened.
