Well, It would be grand if we could test out that theory, and see if you could win some donuts...I suspect you are probably right to a large degree...
But the sad thing is, we don't know, and didn't know, for 27 big ones in a row. Keeping in mind, that the "future" ( the thing that these guys are so good at ensuring) always gets moved to the next season...again and again and again. Without fail. So when the goal keeps getting pushed back relentlessly, people...yeah...look at the immediate campaign at hand.
Not at the ceaselessly undulating, unattained "future" success. Human nature, no ?
Everyone is entitled to look at it how they want...but "patience" is not a factor after 27 years, is it ?

We can all agree to disagree on the vision but the key point is you're right we don't know but isn't that a good thing not to show your cards in this day and age of pre-mature reports and such? It all comes down to faith in that the smart rich guys hired are going to give us a WS title we are all craving BAD which is what we can ALL agree on.

I have put my faith in many things in my day, and have found that John Lennon said it best...after the war of life is fought for some time, I'm left with " I don't believe in Zimmerman ( and all the rest )"...I just believe in me.
And I don't believe in Friedman, either.

i believed in ownership when they said their goal was to win a championship every year
and when they backed it up by trading for a-gon (et al), and later (acquiring) zack
i still want to believe they've got a long-term goal in mind
but it created some doubt when they did nothing at the deadline last year
i don't blame them for not matching arizona's absurd offer to zack, but i do for not even being in on price or zimmerman
and i can't blame them for chapman (the reds and red sox should both be fined for concealing that information imo)
i was hoping they were going to prove themselves at these meetings
but the aftermath of the chapman stuff coming out seems to have put a halt on everyone, not just them
eerie how it's been so quiet...

The difference here is that now we have a management group that actually has a clue as how to build a future. The past regimes all had the 'one year at a time' approach. Ok, maybe there were times they actually looked 2 years ahead. I know you are tired of waiting and want it now. I'm a little long in the tooth as well, but I think I see what is happening and I think I like it. Moreover, I think I'm going to be liking it more and more as time passes, and that's what I want. I don't want to use the 'D' word, but I continue to believe that it is what the Nerds are building.

I think the wrath of some kinda demonic powerful being should come down on the Redlegs...but the same punishment as the "hacking Cardinals" is about it, I would imagine.Fckrrs.
I believe something is taking shape...and that they will have a good team for a long while to come...we agree on that, for sure. But , as much as they will put plenty of arses in the seats, they never have the mix to win it all.
We've had really good teams up and down, for many years. League leaders in many stats and numbers, many times...but with the same result...always.
Whatever they are building, it makes for high profit and slick business...but not a winner. They are missing something...something that inferior teams have and they just don't.
Maybe Dave Roberts is the key...I surely hope so. No matter what happens now, at least they did that.

This Dodgers brass wants to be like the Cardinals, and I think that's something we can all agree with minus the self righteous bullshit.

    Upton sucks
Chris Davis is risky and we already have a 1B man
    We won't get Cueto
We aren't getting Gray or Fernandez. And if we did, it would probably end up compromising our major league offense and eat up our farm system.

    I just don't see it.

What the nerds are doing really isn't wrong. If we could've just won a WS in 2008, 09, 13, 14 or 15...this transition stage would be way easier to take.

We didn't win when we were the best team in the league. Now the Cubs and other teams have caught up and now we have serious competition on top of trying to phase into our next crop of talent.

I can't help but feel we are wasting Kershaw's career.

depends on your definition of wrong
i wouldn't mind it as much, check that, it'd have been a lot easier to accept without all the false bravado
all the "greinke is our #1 priority, price #2" rhetoric
if you're not going to go after certain players, don't make up shit to try and placate us
and i'm not saying you actually say you're not gonna go after someone...
    just offer cryptic, nebulous comments...
but when you offer the pitcher you claimed was priority #1 $50MM less than the nearest competitor (sf) offered and $66MM less than what the d'bags ultimately signed him for, then re-signing clearly wasn't a priority -- and definitely not your #1 priority
what makes this harder to take for me isn't the absence of ws titles...
if there was no revenue stream from the tv deal, then i would accept/understand it a lot easier
and that's not to say that i still don't understand it... i (speaking solely as a fan) just don't like it

say what you want, but we're in a rebuilding mode
okay, maybe rebuilding is too harsh a term... but we're definitely in a transitional phase
all the supporters saying paying zack 6 years is stupid and will cripple the franchise for years to come may be right... for the d'bags
but (and, yes... i understand it's not my money) it would have far less impact on a team like us
all the what if's... you can't pay a guy (like zack) that much going into his late 30's; what if he sucks after year 3 or 4?, what if he gets injured?...
i'm sorry, it's what the market will bear and what it costs to acquire (retain) a player like that
and it's not like the d'bags were the only high/excessive bidder; sf was right there too
yeah, yeah, the farm... trust me, i get the importance of it
both as a resource for our big club and for use as trade chips
but for me, i'll take a established/proven mlb player -- especially an elite one -- over [relying on] an unproven prospect, no matter how heralded
for every bryce harper, there's 100's of "can't miss" joe thurston types that never live up to expectations
but, to be fair, it's not an all-or-nothing scenario
obviously having both -- which we could have [had] by spending $$$ instead of trade -- is the ideal situation

not for lack of trying the past couple years
but if (after watching zimmerman/price/zack et al sign elsewhere) the front office doesn't sign cueto then that very well could be the case
there's always exceptions to every case, and (i feel) zack was one of them
especially since we signed iwakuma who's the same age
    yes, he was significantly cheaper
but zack is a significantly better pitcher
the kersh/zack combo was the closest thing we've had to koufax/drysdale
regardless of how we fared in the postseason last year, having those two played well to our advantage
sure we saved $$$, but this could well prove to be a case of getting what you pay for...

Is there a grade between D- and F?

    They keep dropping.

    Agreed with Irish mostly..

All that TV money and I still can't fucking watch them on TV?!? = GG et. al. sucks herpes laden donkey dicks

All that TV money and we can't afford a Cy Young winner?? = GG et. al. sucks herpes laden donkey dicks

All that TV money AND a new 'brain trust' and we lose Greinke, Price, Cueto AND Zimmerman? !?!? = GG are open liars about wanting to win.

    Liars...

Downgrade my C grade to a D for all that lack of pitching support and prepare for the city to NOW HAVE CONFIRMED that you are ALL INCOMPETENT CHEAPSKATES using the media money as your personal slush fund rather than building a winning team.

Probably instead of looking for starting pitchers they're out looking at parking lots to rape... should have never left loser McCrook an iota of ANYTHING associated with this team.

Aw fuck it... I can't find any reason to not lean towards an "F" at this point.
