He’d be doing the team such a HUGE favor if he just retired due to the injury. Still gets his last year of the contracts check, but his salary wouldn’t count towards the cap. Be nice to free up another 20 mil.

    Yeah, probably is over...
Guy won a shitload of games for us and dug thousands of bad throws out of the dirt and kept the plays in order. Generally fielded a GG first base for us.
Guess I'm sentimental or whatever, like I am about Orel, but Agon, like Hershiser, was a great Dodger player.

Something that will always haunt me looking back is how we backed out last minute in a deal that woulda got us AGon and Heath Bell in 2009 with prime Kemp and Ethier on the roster and Manny fucking raking. We woulda been stacked and all it would of cost us was early mediocrity Loney, declining Marting, Dewitt, McDonald and Dejesus. I was a prospect hugger even back then, but I pitched a monster fit when I found out we killed it last minute. Man.... that woulda been a fun team.

Yeah, AGon went out with a bang, not exactly Kobe-esque but a bang nonetheless.
TBT, I always coveted him as a Dodger and I was as stoked as anyone when we finally got him. He seemed like he was already there and wore the uni well but father time won again. Good on him, good on us, good on GuGGs and Ned getting him and restoring faith.

    GO BLUE!!

What if one of our regular bench guys gets injured. Then in the next round we need an extra bat. And Adrian takes the needle for one more series.
    Hits big game winning HR.

Yep. I know WS or bust is the mindset nowadays but making the playoffs wasn't that common for us prior to acquiring Adrian. He wasn't the only reason we started consistently making the playoffs but he certainly played a big role in our turnaround as a franchise. He may have fell off the last couple seasons but he was a very good Dodger for most of his tenure. Nothing but love for him.

Two biggest factors in the recent seasons adamant hold on the NLW and "elite" status, is Clayton and Adrian. Others came along, but the cornerstones were those two guys, obviously.

The only others around for the past 5 seasons, without significant time on the DL, are Kenley and Puig. You can throw Honeycutt in there too, since the coaches and FO have pretty much all been overturned. But yeah, Adrian has been solid. Behind all the criticism of him this year, there is certainly sadness that his run is ending.

Yep, Injuns already won. Twins basically said, fuck this, 83 wins is good enough for us. Twins are in as the #2 WC with nothing to play for.

Boston still has a magic number of 2 to win their division, so they have motivation vs Houston.

Twins over Yankees in the WC game would be funny. Yankees are on fire and built for the playoffs while the lowly Twins tried to sell at the deadline.

The Indians finish the season with 3 games against the White Sox. With Houston chasing them for best record in the AL there is a lot of motivation for them to win out, so I expect Cleveland to finish with 103 wins. That means for us to lock down HFA we need to do it ourselves with at least one win in Colorado.

Yankees still have an outside shot at their division. They are down 3 games, but all they have left are games against Tampa and Toronto. Boston meanwhile has to play Houston who is trying to chase Cleveland.

If Yankees and Red Sox tie, they would have a 1-game playoff at Yankee Stadium for the division.

    Twins are weird.
For some reason they're way better offensive team when Sano doesn't play
They score like 6.5 runs a game when Sano is out..like 4.5 when he's in
Or something close to those numbers

I would pull for the Yankees. Used to favor Boston big time in that rivalry but their fans are insufferable.
