Velocity doesn't mean much with such little movement and location. He was missing the target by a lot.

Without his cutter working, he's just a fastball pitcher down the middle.

Is his arm gassed? Don't understand his issues so early in the season.

Earlier in the year he was throwing cutters with no gas on them (like 89) and now he has focused on getting the velocity up, they aren't cutting, they are staying straight. His command is out of whack and is just plain not pitching well, he needs to find the middle ground around 92 MPH with bite that made him so good

If Jansen is even capable of throwing a cutter anymore, I am missing it.
Truthfully, I've only seen a handful of good ones this whole season, and saw none last night.

Yeah I said it earlier but Joc/Verdugo batting 1-2 is a pretty good combo at the moment. Joc is taking fantastic at bats and Verdugo is making good contact on the ball.

They’ll probably have frustrating moments but I like them 1-2

Chokeley should buy Verdugo an expensive dinner, soup to nuts, for his hustle and hit late in the game. Maybe Grandal too for the sac fly, which seems to be insurmountable for the rest of this top rated offense.
Without the kid's hustle, Kenley simply just gets another blown save with that pitch to Murphy with 2 strikes on him...as per 2018 version.
Yeah, he's king of the fuck ups on a team full of them.

Yeah, we have seen him do this before, but with less excruciating results. I think it was two years ago he started just unleashing 97-99, but they were flat. Now him overthrowing just to hit 94-95 and touch 97 with it being flat AND fat is a disaster. Someone has said his mechanics are out of whack, but he has been very hittable since the World Series. He was on another level in the NLDS and hasn't looked the same since.

Mechanics are out of whack...sometimes, his left foot, just before he delivers, is off the ground, then put down on the mound as he pushes off when he releases it.
    Like normally.
The next time, it is dangling there while he rocks back to throw, he does a little jig/ wiggle with the foot before it is planted...almost a la Kershaw's delivery.
This seems to have all started this season.
Not a successful template for consistency, imo.
I attribute it to Mad Cow Disease...no other possible explanation.

Verdugo is so good at getting the bat on the ball, it feels like a miracle with the way the rest of the team is

50 pitches before the 2nd inning is over and the pitcher drove in the tying run.
    Good job Alex.
    #2 potential. #4 reality I'm afraid.

Yup, besides guys up and down the lineup like Goldsmith and incredible beast Pollock, etc., getting opposing pitchers deep in pitch counts early in the game may be their greatest strength.
    Pratically an unbeatable combination.
    Great coaching showing everywhere.
70 pitches through 3 for Wood...and one of the weaker starters we have.
I guess better than Hill, who is a useless DL, wasted roster spot joke, every season.

Belli trying to pull a 3-1 pitch that's a foot off the plate.
