I agree, but also: Cingrani was worse and they unleashed him. Axford is older and doesn’t have anything near that raw stuff but I have blind hope

He must have been at least been mentoring Barnes somewhat...

They probably had something else up their sleeves in the event that they had landed Archer. They were serious about adding him. Probably moving one of the outfielders. Pirates adding Archer, especially for that package, was just unnecessary

Could very well be but I think it's fair to say that Archer was linked to us for the last 2 years or so or after Friedman got hired.

Yeah. They've been interested in Archer for a while.
Shit, what's probably going to end up happening is LAD will approach PIT about Archer at next year's deadline.

He is on his way, but is coming from Minnesota. Listened to MLB radio on my way home and they had the Twins GM on. He said that the workings of the deal had been close for a few hours and that Dozier was well aware of where he was going before the Twins finally agreed to the deal. The word is that he was already in the air or on his way to the airport when the news leaked and the teams finally agreed. Hard to see him starting, but he will probably be a pinch hitter.

True, but he went from good to fucking awful at the wrong time during the season. Not any kind of prospect to lose sleep over, but the added money kinda blows for any future deals. Plus, even if they fix something, I don't see him becoming lethal in any way and that is what the club needed.

    Some positives about Axford:
    - As was mentioned before, he is death on lefties.
    - He has been considerably better away than at home. Rogers Center is good hitters park.
    - The Angels are responsible for 26% of the runs he has given up this season and 33% of the HR's. Only other team to score more than 1 run against him when at home was the Rays(3).

That's about all I got. In the end he looks like another MR that could go on stretches of good runs, but that's probably his ceiling.

p.s. He has been a trainwreck when guys get on against him.

Hill has been pretty good each of the last two post seasons but Roberts has an extremely short leash on his starters in the post-season

I’m honestly pumped at the focus on the offense. The length of the lineup is great now, and we have so many players that are capable of carrying an offense. The pitching can be scary but they’ve put up good numbers all year and our starters are talented enough to get us by and transition to be set up guys.

This sucks for the rest of the NL but Shelby Miller to the 60 day DL, he's such a good hitting slump buster in the vane of alphabet soup in SF.
