    nightenfail so fwiw
but if true, might actually play into friedman's hands -- or, dare i say, perhaps what he's planned all along
3-5 yr contract w/player opt outs would be great
and obviously we could better whatever the giants propose
farhan, bochy, baer can pontificate all they want about how great the meetings went
expect boras to do the same when it gets to crunch time
but if given the choice, who do you think harper (or anyone for that matter) would choose between us and the sfkags
again the source is questionable and, even if true, kasten et al would still have to actually ok an offer...
but it could be less optimistic
    • The Giants plan on making Bryce Harper a short-term, big-money offer, but they’re uninterested in giving him a long-term contract along the lines of the 10-year, $300MM proposal he rejected from the Nationals, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Well, if it does work into AFs hands, it will be by divine providence. No way he could know the way the dominoes could have fallen, imo.
To me, looks like they 're still maintaining the Pontius Pilate stance.
But should he go to the Giants, without even a try by us to get him, it will be interesting spin, indeed out of LA.
Or, of course, handled.by the arrogance of Kasten, as previously.
Go fuck yourself pretty much amounts to the same, however you dress it up...not that he cares about a soft peddle.

    agreed
we're in wait and see mode
if harp goes to somewhere like philly, so be it
but if he goes to sf on a short-term deal without a counter from us it would be extremely disappointing, and imo inexcusable

It does sound like the Giants are getting ready to make him an offer. If they signed him to like a 10 year, 350M+ contract, I would probably be like "ok, whatever". If they end up signing him to some 3-5 year contract, I may have a meltdown.

If the Gnats get Harper on a deal like that, I'm taking a big ol deal on Kasten and Friedman. Even though it still doesn't make the Gnats a contender, it is the kind of stupid decision making by the Dodger FO that makes us a perennial second place finisher....if even that.

That whole press conference where Kasten said that basically the Dodgers are still making money so the fans are still happy was proof that the current management does not care about winning the whole thing. It’s just a financial investment, like they have treated all their assets. The fact they don’t seem to care that a whole chunk of local fans can’t even see the games on TV is also a big clue.

What are the chances that when the TV deal is close to expiring, they sell the team. They earned their ROI by that time.

His job is to say the right things that stockholders want to hear.
You and I are not stockholders.
He knows what he is saying.
He knows the fans are not buying it.
    He does not care.
Its not his job to care.
That's why he pays others to care.

Correction. He’s freaking president of the Dodgers organization. He is NOT a Guggenheim mouthpiece for the Gugg’s investors no more than Friedman should be. Does he take orders from the Guggs? Well then maybe that’s the problem.

Sorry, no. You're gonna have to wait a little longer before you can park for $50 and spend another hundo on a hot dog and a few beers!

Be ready though, Stan the moneyman is waiting to greet you!! :D
