i knew what rudy was about but the song has multiple versions w all kinds of visuals
loved that period of supertramp and thought they were destined for so much more
and then "its raining again" followed breakfast and they got left behind
at least thats what i recall

also recall being introduced to the band by the first girl i ever lived with
we didn't have furniture but we had a stereo and played records for each other laying on the floor
she loved Genesis and supertramp and i introduced her to steely dan and Bowie
never get to have that kind of innocence and joy again no matter how hard you try
feel really fortunate to have come of age in the 70s and 80s

    diablo, huh?, craig(tafnac), bluezoo...

weird that i never listened to supertramp's lyrics
really loved their semi-earlier stuff and crime of the century is one of my favorite 70's albums
even in the quietest moments is another great one
but after the success of breakfast in america they pretty much mailed it in imo
one big album/success can do that
like the bee gees/sn fever, pink floyd/the wall, etc
one thing to be popular with your cult following, quite another when the masses jump aboard
felt the police did that too...
if you listen to the genius of their first two albums and then what followed... there's no comparison
i imagine a lot of that had to do with the purported feuding between sting and stu copeland but whatev
was never a genesis fan but of course loved bowie and steely dan
i remember my friend and i bicycling to pacific stereo in no hollywood so i could pick up diamond dogs

i just love the madness of Rudy w the SF streetcars, horses and cars while watching the reactions of the well dressed public to a camera
but the train video is entirely surreal and floats the mind out somewhere far beyond reality
then again i'm growing a serious og strain lol

He might have the greatest natural talent to ever put on a baseball uniform. His eye sight alone, was just one of the rare and wonderful gifts that made him the Splendid Splinter. Guy was awe inspiring.
And crashed in his fighter plane, too.
You read about what an asshole he was all the time, but I've heard clips where he was flat out hilarious.
Love his answer when asked what he thought he would hit against today's pitching...brilliant, imo.

So did I...the same hate/love thing...when I grew up, it was Mantle, Mays, and Snider in CF for the 3 NY teams.I would roll around and fight if you ragged on Duke too much, did so many times, too. Never could let that happen if I was around.
Would never admit it then, but I liked the head -duckin' country boy from Oklahoma. And the Say Hey kid, too.
But in my heart of hearts, especially as I got older, I knew the pecking order.
Long live the Duke of Flatbush !

His contemporary Joe D was a bigger ahole than T Ballgame. Recommend you read Joe DiMaggio, a bio written by Richard Ben Cramer.

heard someone talking on the radio yesterday morning about a movie called Brigsby bear and i recommend it if you like quirky emotional comedy

watch a movie about stand up comedians that go to China to perform and it was really good "i need you to kill"
one of the guys is Tom Segura and he has a special as well that i thoroughly enjoyed
