"I fell in love with the NBA watching the Lakers play." - Kawhi Leonard

Lets just see what happens. If the Lakers land AD and walk into FA with both LeBron/AD as cornerstones, how do the Clippers look at that point? They couldn't even stop Caruso.

Nets "highly unlikely" to keep D'Angelo Russell if they sign Kyrie Irving, per @IanBegley

Yup. All that fuss for nothing. Productive kid, but he's gonna be a journeyman unless he finds a small market team that sort of has to settle for him..or a team that strikes out on the bigger/better targets like the Knicks/Clippers, a couple orgs that never hoist the Larry O. trophy. Eastern conference pool of guards was weak..he gets named a replacement all-star because of injury and fans lose their minds. Probably gonna play for like 6 or 7 teams in his career. Zubac news is next..if the Clips are successful in luring a couple major FAs, Zu is gone too.

Butler & AD....sign me up. Won't get my hopes up for Kawhi.

I was surprised it wasn't his back that got injured from carrying Steph so many times.

Don't get your hopes up for AD either, we aren't getting him. At least not anytime soon.

The funny thing about the Kawhi staying with the Raptors stuff is..he's with the Raptors now, so why wouldn't he just say he's staying? What would it hurt? He had an opportunity to make it known that he was staying right after the game the other night when he did the post-game interview with Rachel Nichols. She asked him right there, in front of Lowry, and all Kawhi did was look down and give the PR response. And that was after winning the championship. You can't even say you're staying after winning the title? You're not staying. That's the way I see it.

That and Kawhi's now done everything that matters in the league. He can make his decision based on happiness alone or whatever makes his family the happiest, whatever it is. That he won the championship with the Raptors is great for his story, but it's still not the team he wanted to go to. He wanted LA. Popovich wanted Toronto. And fuck what Popovich wants. If I'm Kawhi, I'm now heading to the western conference to torment Pop for the rest of my career.

If LAL strikes out on Kawhi and Jimmy, and GSW tries to shortchange Klay, I say give Klay the max and bet he'll be back over maxing out Kemba or Kyrie. LAL has to play some damn defense. Plus it would just be great to have Klay with LAL

GS already said they will max out both Klay and KD. It’s really their only play given how they both got injured. Klay is most likely to stay in that situation.

Yeah Klay's agent has already said he's staying. I'm just saying that if it comes time and they backtrack, and the opportunity presents itself I'd rather have Klay

Yup I agree. Like Klay basically saying he’s staying, Leonard has been circumspect in any statements about staying. I’m 90% sure he’s staying in Toronto, but maybe not on a max 5 year contract.

The other 10% feels maybe there is a chance Leonard really does walk to the beat of a different drum and is dead set playing for the team he wants....hopefully the Lakers.

A team with Lebron and Kawhi would just be devastating. And imagine if we could really pull off an AD trade.

Nobody knows, it's all just speculation. Colin Cowherd is just another blowhard with an opinion. But he makes a compelling case for both AD and KD going to the Knicks (based on Pelicans' strong preference of pick #3 over #4). Kawhi signing with Clips, and Lakers settling for Butler and Boogie. Not the worst "settle for" scenario as then Lakers still have pick #4, Kuzma, Hart, and Ingram (even if he's expensive) to complement James, Butler, and Cousins.

I would pass on Cousins. He’s not the old Boogie and was inconsistent in the finals. He tried to be a stretch center but wasn’t very good at it.

The Lakers desperately need shooters who can also defend the 3 point line.

The Pelicans have agreed to a deal to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks – including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft, league sources tell ESPN.
