Dude has hit at every level and had learned to hit the long ball this year. Striking out a lot in AAA, but is becoming an interesting option off the bench. Not sure if he is anything serious, but who knows with where all these borderline stars come from anymore.

Futures game rosters to drop tomorrow, would not be shocked if these were the Dodgers picks. With that said, the team has also used it as a way to show off tradeable assets in the past. So I would also not be surprised if it is like Mitch White and Edwin Rios or some shit.

I was just curious because obviously the more talent we have the better the package for that elusive pen upgrade. I'm torn on the possible trade of Keibert in the Pirates trade, I mean having Will do his thing makes it easier but it feels wrong.

    • The Dodgers signed first baseman/outfielder Jon Kemmer to a minor league contract, per an announcement from Kemmer’s Mexican League club, los Generales de Durango. The Dodgers’ Triple-A club announced the move today as well. Kemmer once ranked within the Astros’ top 15 prospects, per Baseball America. However, his offensive output took a step backward in 2018 in a season split between the Triple-A clubs of the Astros and the Twins. Kemmer was an All-Star in the Mexican League this season when he posted a ridiculous .355/.454/.714 line with 21 homers in 262 plate appearances. As recently as 2017, the now-28-year-old Kemmer logged a .299/.399/.553 line in the admittedly hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League.

Lux, Peters and May all are off to good starts in AAA. Yesterday, Lux and Peters each hit their first home runs since their promotions. Lux’s was an absolute laser that never got above 15-20 feet off the ground the smoked the CF batters eye. Peters was said to be the longest one of the 5 hit in the game. Reks and Kremmer also added bombs for an OKC team that is suddenly very VERY interesting.

We may have a reason why May has been struggling a bit this year at times. Sounds like the team has him throwing his change a decent bit(maybe more than his breaker) to improve his feel for it. Sounds like it is still a so-so pitch.

Peters seems like he could be exciting but I’m mostly hoping some other team is really high on him and he can be traded for a great reliever.

But, I’m gonna bet that May is gonna be the one guy (along with Keibert) that everyone wants. I’d be surprised if we land 1-2 relievers and still have both May and Keibert

Then goodbye to both of them.
They are exciting, but they aren't Seager, Kershaw, Bellinger, Buehler, Lux type prospects.
Ruiz is really only good relative to his position, imo, because most catchers suck. But in the grand scheme of things, do we really want to pass on Vasquez or Brad Hand because Ruiz might hit .260/.330/.450 in a couple of years? That is an uneducated guess on his slash. No research went into that.

Well just on the surface, May and Ruiz have the potential to become household names for the casual fan, while Vasquez and Hand are not, so from that standpoint, it's tough to make those trades. HOWEVER... I don't think any of us believe that we can win the WS this year with our current BP makeup. All the rest of the pieces are in place and it's an opportunity that shouldn't be missed. So if Hand and Vasquez can make the difference between just another playoff appearance and a championship... so long May and Ruiz.

Yeah... I don't know if May is worth either of them. Ruiz is expendable more thanks to Will Smith, but then again he is out with an injury which is fairly common for him. I am seeing some updated projections on May that think he is creeping into #2 territory, which is significant cause everyone likes to give #3 comps for good prospects. Fastball is sitting 95-98 late into games, touching 99 with some decent secondaries. With his size and continuing to get better and better, that is a steep price for a reliever when the farm is as deep as it is and should be able to put a deal together with pieces that aren't May, Lux or Gonsolin. Not to mention, May and Gonsolin may be legit bullpen options for the stretch run.

I think we will have to make a move that makes us uncomfortable at some point in order to in the WS. Especially this season.
2017 we were so close with this play it safe approach but the bullpen is so bad that I think we just have to go for it.
I don't pay attention to the rest of the league but the Red Sox gave up a former #1 spec in Moncada to get Sale, no?
Don't know if that's a fair comparison with our situation but I just want to win it all.

Don't trade any of the big time prospects who will come up this year for a reliever.
You do that for a star hitter/pitcher.

Trade from surplus which means catchers not named Will Smith who is already up or pitchers who are already up but have not shown enough to get a full time Dodgers job.
Or players on the major league roster blocking prospects who could come up and produce now.
This year is perfect for trading Ruiz, Ferguson and/or Joc.

Joc will always be a high HR low average type of player.
The Dodgers can do better but in the meantime have plenty of players that are producing at above replacement in LF.
I like Joc and love his power but he has been relegated to playing 1B and LF which no longer puts him in league with the CF/RF types that make more money and are allowed to produce a little less due to their defense.
As a power hitting LF with low average he is in crowded company.

Verdugo can replace him in LF when Pollock gets back at CF.
Or just grab some other random white minor leaguer to replace him.
Beaty, Garlick, those two new guys that just raked in AAA.
Hell Edwin Rios could decide he wants to be the clone of Max Muncy.
Or just start Freese at 1B nearly every game.

Ferguson is not needed on this team but has the talent and makeup to start for many teams right now.

I don't doubt that, but I not sure the way the front office handles young arms will allow it.

I'm hoping Ferguson gets his shit straightened out in the minors. A viable LH arm not named Alexander or Rosscup is a must.
