Charley Steiner mentions this stat on the radio like 50 times a season and I want to cry every time I hear it

It’s an amazing unreal stat that has the biggest asterisks imaginable

I feel like our playoff losses have given me PTSD. Met a guy at my bar the other day who was a big baseball fan and was talking about the stadiums he’s been to, mentioned going to Dodger Stadium for Game 5 of the 2013 NLCS. All I could think about was Game 6 of that series after we won 5.

Moving these guys to uncomfortable positions makes its harder for them to get out of slumps.
Too much new/different information coming at their brains and muscles affects their guts in a way hard to measure or convey.

    I am fine with experimentation.
Teams should cross train their players in the off season and get them some game reps early in the year.
Just not really at this point in the season.
From our outside point of view it does not seem ideal to have your making adjustments when they should be honing.

    Amen.

May comes up and pitches to a 0.00 ERA for a month...

"...It's just one of those things where....we like Dusty. Seeing what he's done...at this stage...is...impressive. At the same time, when you think back on the legends of Dodger baseball, Kenley is in that conversation. He understands the magnitude of the situation, he's been there, and he shows p to the ballpark every day with that mentality. It's really his World Series to lose..."

I'm still trying to figure out why the FO didn't sign Kimbrel. You didn't have to give up picks, you knew the trajectory on this Dodger team (at least playoff bound if not a WS appearance), and it was just money.

Given the BP woes, that should have been a priority....especially seeing that pitching was the Dodgers down fall for the past 2 WSs.

Would it behoove the FO to at least pay where they have a weakness?

    @ColoradoKidWitGame @doyerfan

Kerhsaw has been good this season BUT...

...what are the odds he tries the Verlander off-season program again to regain his velo?

Or is that considered impractical moving forward?

To have fastball velocity like he had a few years ago and not work on a changeup is criminal.

Don't see that happening, not after what happened last year. Maybe this dude will finally look to Ryu and work on mixing in more pitches. He doesn't need an elite change, he just needs an average one. A frustrating part of all this is not only has Kershaw lost his velo, but is also not locating like he used to either. He needs a Maddux transformation where he just hits spots the way he used to.

Agreed on the latter 3, but word is Greinke was not going to waive his no trade clause AND the Diamondbacks apparently were not willing to deal with the Dodgers either as it sounds like the club did check in on him. Pretty awesome that the Dodgers have joined the Yankees in the ol' ridiculous taxing department, but a team that is 2 years off of a WS victory just landed Greinke for a group of just ok prospects, at least according to Mayo.

Astros are letting Cole hit the market this offseason. He joins Strasburg ( likely to opt out) and Madbum as the top guys. Dodgers, of course, aren't getting any of them. Doesn't even matter that it won't cost them any prospects.

It could all be bullshit, but Olney said earlier this year that teams are scared that the Dodgers are going to finally be big spenders this offseason and that they are going to make runs at Cole and Rendon. I'll believe it when I see it, but Heyman backed it up a couple months ago saying that the Nats are fearful that the Dodgers fully plan to go all out after him and plan to move Turner to 1B for his final year in blue.
