Not 100% and I ain't checking either, but didn't they hit a bunch of our guys the last time we played them? Would really like to not see that happen this time so that we are as close to full strength as possible before the PO's.

After a rough 4 game stretch, Lux over his last 11 games is 12-35, 2 HR's, 3 BB and a slash line of .343/.395/.571. He is also yet to really start squaring up the ball like he did in MiLB. The goal should be to get him as many AB's as possible over the next 6 games and try to get this kid in a groove. He has also been legit ump-fucked since getting called up as the rookie treatment going on for the kid is some bullshit. One major takeaway is that this kid has a great understanding of the strike zone.

It will be interesting to watch this continue as you can tell it pisses him off. Since he is a rookie he has to watch it as an ump will ring him up in a heart beat, but the team seems to have taken notice and are mouthing off to the umps far more often in recent weeks.

I just don't understand how in this televised statcast era, umpires are able to have subjective strike zones based on who is in the batter's box. The strike zone is the strike zone. It's such bullshit. Yesterday, he was basically forced to swing at a pitch 6 inches off the plate. He actually made decent contact on it, lining out to left field

Apparently this is causing a lot of problems and tension between players and the umps. We aren't seeing it, but players are said to be regularly coming into the box and saying "you know I was right and you were wrong about that strike 3 in my last at bat" since they can instantly see replays. The umps are reportedly fuming about this and while they have been told to not just start throwing guys out for it, there is growing worry that is around the corner as the umps are ready to start making a point. I get that umping is hard, but some of these dudes absolutely need to be held accountable.

they do need to be held accountable
but criticizing an ump prior to a subsequent at bat is just stupid
your strike zone just got significantly bigger and you'll get run instantly if you whine

So is the idea that getting HFA over the Yanks and/or Houston right now is either too much of a long shot, or not worth going "all out" for? I guess that's the feeling I'm getting. So provided we take down the magic number of two over Atlanta, the rest of the games are pretty meaningless. Well, if there's one thing Roberts is good for, it's resting guys. Hoping he does this strategically. Would still like to see Muncy and Turner get ABs so they can both try to get their timing back, and keep Seager and Polluck in the lineup as I think a rest could break their hot streaks. Lux should play everyday too to continue to build off his recent success. Could Bellinger benefit from some time off? I don't know the answer to that, although the MVP race may keep him in the lineup. Maybe Smith could use a few days rest - this is likely the most innings he's played in his life and it has to be taking a toll.

I think HFA throughout is out the window now. It could happen, but expecting the Astros to lose 3 of 6 against the M's and a walking dead Angels club is a stretch. Same goes for the Yankees, unless the Rays sweep them I don't see the Rangers putting up a fight since they will want to hurt the Astros, not help. There really is no reason not to sweep this series against a depleted Padres club and then reassess what to do before the Giants series. If the Yankees are suddenly beatable, then you gotta play to win. If not, then Spring Training it is.

While it would be nice to have home-field advantage in the world series, I don't see the 2-3-2 format hurting the team without HFA that much. But I don't have the numbers.

The Dodgers are definitely a better home team then road team but if they don't win the world series, I don't think that specifically will be the difference.
