This is from MLBTR. It is a projection of the upcoming Arb figures for our guys. They are usually pretty close.
    • Pedro Baez – $3.3MM
    • Enrique Hernandez – $5.5MM
    • Joc Pederson – $8.5MM
    • Yimi Garcia – $1.1MM
    • Chris Taylor – $5.0MM
    • Corey Seager – $7.1MM
    • Ross Stripling – $2.3MM
    • Austin Barnes – $1.3MM
    • Scott Alexander – $1.0MM
    • Max Muncy – $4.6MM
    • Cody Bellinger – $11.6MM
    • Julio Urias – $1.7MM
$53M on the nose. The club has $88M in guarantees for next year already so in total this would put them at $141M AAV which is $67M under the threshold. Of the players above mentioned, I think Hernandez ($5.5M) and Pederson ($8.5M) are the most likely to not see the opening day roster next year. Hernandez more so of him becoming a dude running out of a spot on the team and getting expensive, while the club has tried to move Pederson each of the last two offseasons and now he is entering his contract year. I think they retain Alexander to see what he has after the surgery and since he is cheap plus was somewhat successful outside of homers, Garcia will get another shot too. On the 40 man, Pollock is the one that could be shown the door after his abysmal year with the club. I think someone would take a chance on him if the Dodgers eat about $20M of that contact. As much as I want to see Bellinger and Seager moved for their pure fuckedness in the postseason. That will NEVER EVER happen for many reasons, but mostly cause this FO believes in getting to the postseason and then getting lucky and these guys put up good-great regular season numbers.

Random thing I was thinking about with Kershaw today. The game is starting to go back to the old school curveball as the main secondary pitch. One thing with Kershaw is that he has maintained a CB rate of roughly 15-16% throughout his career. Instead of maybe integrating a change (which will never happen), he starts going to the curve more at maybe a 25% rate in 2020 and look at increasing that number if the results are positive. Granted this will probably get him hurt in places like Colorado and Arizona, but for everywhere else, it may be a way to get him back at being more of a dominant force. Staying par for the course is not going to be it, so this could be that "something new" that helps prolong his career.

The Phillies ownership is bringing in individual players to discuss whether or not to retain Gabe Kapler as head coach. THIS IS A HORRIBLE IDEA. Not only are they wasting valuable time making a decision, they are putting the power into the players and will cause power struggles down the line. The ownership and FO apparently love Gabe, but they think there were major issues in the clubhouse that could have been resolved better. If Gabe leaves, I would not be shocked to see him end back up with the Dodgers organization as we have lost a tremendous amount of talent over the last 3 years.

Just what I was thinking when I woke up today. How do we prolong this miserable Kershaw era

Like how LAD seemingly had Kapler lined up and then Adrian and a bunch of other bums went to upper management on behalf of DR?

I would use analytics more to adjust for park conditions, home/away splits and things like that.
If a player sucks on the road then that is when you platoon him half the time until he starts to hit better away.
So if you have a pitcher who has a particular style that gets wrecked at high altitudes specially at night... skip him that day for a pitcher who can better adjust to those conditions.

I mean the dude has a legit 80 grade curveball. Generally with age those don't diminish. It is how Moyer stuck around into his mid-40's. Not saying I want him around any longer, but he's going to be. So might as well make the best of it.

CK should have modified his mix of pitches a few years ago.

He was great for our MiLB system though and I would love to have him back. He initiated the healthy food on a budget thing and think that had more impact than people realize.

I mean, yeah, a lot of people would rather have DR over Kapler, but the macro thinking here is that LAD's culture is that weak, that players can butt in and get a guy hired

I can't debate that with you, but hiring him with no experience on a big league bench (and very, very little in the minors) would have been a mistake for a World Series caliber team.

And the Braves PH'd for him with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th inning so he didn't get a standing ovation.

    Ouch!

We need post season success players. We need the Coles and the Madbums of the world.

Only bright side is the Buehler looked good...but we need an iron man/men throughout this entire team.
