LOL, Steve Cohen is reportedly backing out of his purchase agreement to take over a majority stake in the Mets. This would be mildly hilarious.

Not that exciting, Kid...I don't see anyone taking Ryu's ERA place, and, imo, Maeda is always a crapshoot as a starter, given his longish spells of suckitide. Wood is a very hittable mediocrity most of the time now, and has showed no flashes of brilliance since we shitcanned him previously...why this is justified by another go round and contract is beyond me...maybe the FO is involved in the Make A Wish Foundation.
I don't know about Nelson, except he has the same name as a wooden dummy. Just too much woody shit goin' on for me.
Strip is Strip, and I admire the guy for having not committing hara- kiri yet.
Sure hope Ferris continues his trajectory as constant as Polaris. He will be magnetic North for us.
And of course, inevitably, Kershaw will further his sad journey with his reputation as the most hated and excoriated Hall of Famer of all time.
Just not super psyched over this rotation.
But we still have Kelly !!
To warm the cockles of yer heart...

Good lord. The Wilpon's tried to change the terms of the deal late in the process and it is why he is walking away. This is unreal as they did the same thing in 2011 when they were close to selling and the buyer walked as the Wilpon's worked in bad faith. These dudes seem like major scumbags.

    • The Red Sox are said to not have even focused on a single package yet from either team. Which is a reason people think this now may be a couple days still from being handled(though that can change in an instant).
    • A report today, which was also kinda similar to one from yesterday that was glossed over said the reported trade offers are not anywhere close to correct and are said to be far weaker than what is out there. That’s interesting as I’m wondering if the Red Sox are trying to use the media to up the other teams offers.
One thing for me the last couple of days is that the Red Sox have started to focus on their coaching search. With pitchers and catchers reporting in a few days, they’re running out of time. They may decide to focus on that, make both us and the Padres sweat it out, then come back to the table. That’s just my thought and not based on any information.

they’re really not under the gun to make a trade
they can always ship him at the deadline

Bill Plunkett apparently on ESPN radio just said that the Dodgers are not probable to land Betts. I can’t listen to it so my info is secondhand.

I’m going to hold off judgement until I see the return, if there is one. If it’s some weak not top 10 dudes, I may have a meltdown.

Never for a moment did I think Betts had a chance of becoming a Dodger. Knew all those rumors were shit

Actually, they are under the gun if their goal is to get under the luxury tax. They are over by about $20 million, so trading Betts now gets them under with a little wiggle room. Trading him at the deadline doesn’t get them under, so they would be forced to move someone else like Price, or pay the tax. If they are in the hunt (which is likely) trading at the deadline would be a hard sell to the fans as well.

I think it’s either trade Betts now, or pay the luxury tax.

Apparently the Sox and Dodgers talks stalled over the third piece. The rumor is the Sox are pushing for one of the better pitching prospects in the org and the Dodgers have said no more after giving up two high end prospects already.

Lol and here’s Heyman saying that talks have heated up again. Dodgers seen as favorites with Padres on the periphery. I also would not be shocked if a team like the Phillies or Rangers have quietly been involved this whole time.
