Anytime I hear Orel talk, I remember his Dodger Stadium renovation idea:

Would be nice if Chase Utley was still in the lineup and Altuve wanted to get him out.

I saw a headline from the athletic saying that Kershaw used driveline training this offseason. Is this the program to regain velocity that he attempted last off season before getting shut down?

    Well, yes and no.
When we let it slip through our fingers again, whatever the underlying reasons could actually be ( read: cheating, arrogant scumbags), what fun will it be not to be able to blame mostly him? As well established here as indelible precedent.
    Kershaw is our Breaker Morant.

Btw, where is this Red Sox cheating investigation at ? Did this fall off the earth ( being that it is flat) ?
I thought it was due two weeks ago....

Indications are that it should be out by the end of this week.

I guess they had to go back and re-interview some people. It's probably to give everyone a chance to get their stories straight, so MLB can pretend that all the information is out, 100%. If you give immunity to people who come out and tell the whole story, you need to at least pretend like they told the whole story.

Different program as I believe he tried his own thing last year. He, like Jansen tended to turn it off when the season was over and last year was Kershaw's first attempt at entering the new age as he is a self admitted old school player. He has been kind of stubborn in the past about this stuff(many of the greats are) and this was him finally taking the right steps to prolong his career. Driveline was known for helping guys regain velocity, but there is a lot more to it.

For Jansen it was breaking down tape and figuring out that his mechanics over the last 3 years have completely devolved. They apparently have him right again and while he did see an early uptick in velo, they also seem to have found the reason for the vertical drop in his cutter that was leading the ball into the hitting zone. They think they found a way to keep the ball carrying longer and be more deceptive to the hitter which is why even when his velo slipped in recent seasons, he still was incredibly tough to hit.

For Wood it was cleaning up his herky-jerky motion and while it is still odd, it is a bit more refined than it was. This they feel should help with his back issues and in turn, we saw a velocity spike in his first outing.

For Kershaw, we don't know what they did. Unlike the other two, he would not say what they worked on in detail, but everyone is happy to see where he is at early in camp. He has lost a lot of his deception in recent years as people were starting to pick up the difference between his fastball and slider, so hopefully they can can get that back in line. It would be nice to see him get some velo back, but it may be tougher with him as his mechanics have always been pretty clean, even if the delivery was a bit wonky. So just getting a better arm slot and potentially adding a 4th pitch to get guys off balance could be enough. For reference, his average FB velo was 90.54 last year while from 2008-2017 it was always 93-94 before a big drop to 91 in 2018. This coincides with his back problems, so there COULD BE some hope that they find his lost velo, but at his age and workload, that is hard to see.

So this offseason it sounds like the Dodgers signed at least 3 guys out of Driveline(someone else threw over the weekend that was never announced and the reviews were interesting) with at least Jansen and Kershaw going there, plus I may have heard that Stripling went as well. The Dodgers then preceded to hire the pitching coach that trained these guys, so they may be seeing some things that they really like. ST will be interesting to watch.

MLB is enjoying the negative publicity, publicity with Houston. Once that villain dies they will introduce a new one.
