To get a guy who is supposed to put them FINALLY over the top, only to find that there may not even be a top to get over. All this "we'll start up again in four weeks" could be a pile of happy horseshit.
And when 2021 arrives, play or not, his Blue days could very well be wishful thinking and up in smoke...

The “4 weeks” thing is clearly a minimum at this point, and personally I think best case scenario this is 6 weeks. If we start up before the end of June, I will feel lucky.

With all the sports cancellations, I feel like June 15 could wind up being overloaded with sports if everyone starts back up on that day.

If they don't play this season then his contract is not up.

Oh, well I guess that's important...I thought that it was basically that we've got him for the 2020, and come hell or high corona, that's it.
If this season winds up being a ridiculously short version of the norm, then better for us it doesn't happen at all, imo.
I assume if he plays at all, the contract length is validated then, and FA is good to go for him ?

If too much of the season, or all of it, is cancelled over this, I'm probably out as a fan.
The only thing the Dodgers had going for them was that I have habitually watched them every summer and it has become a cruel, instinctual addiction.
But if I get one taste of summer without the Dodgers, and I like it....well, I won't ruin a good thing.

Jorge Castillo is reporting that he hears that there is no chance the season starts April 9th and realistically we are talking May at the earliest

You are a fan of always saying you are going to quit as a fan but them coming back just as much a fan as always.
And we are fans of watching you do this every year.

I say get MLB2k or whatever the current baseball game is and play out the schedule but put it on simulation so you can sit back and watch the games.
On the brightside Seager won't be going vegan in the video game and Kershaw won't choke in the playoffs and Kenley won't eat himself out of the closer role.

The Dodgers haven't won a game since last season.
    They really do suck.

Games are back to being played and yesterday was kind of a fun one. Here is what happened.

    • Dustin May started for the Dodger Whites. He displayed his usual hard moving stuff, but also flashed both a decent slider AND change up. He hung a couple of pitches that got clobbered, but that is not a huge surprise for a guy seeing his first "game" action since 2019. The big thing to watch is how he can better utilize that slider and change going forward since he was predominately a 2 pitch pitcher last season. Had some bad luck on weak contact which could be an issue for him due to the overall power in his pitches. He also wore down in the 4th inning when guys were getting their 3rd looks at him and making him work a bit, though he did get himself out of a jam with a couple of K's.
    • Josiah Gray was on the bump to start for the blue squad. He had a rude awakening thanks to Mookie, but otherwise was more than decent once he settled down. He definitely needs a bit more seasoning, but this kid may not be far away.
    • Seager looks absolutely locked in.
    • Betts finally looked a bit more comfortable at the plate. Cracked a HR and then nearly cracked Gray's skull on a comebacker.
    • Don't run on Chico!
    • Dennis Santana looked great in his first inning. Slider was tighter which is important for him to succeed. Second inning didn't go nearly as well, Raley and Turner hit bombs off of him and Betts laced a single. All were on pitches that badly missed location.
    • Treinen looked ok. No damage, but I still worry about his ability to locate his pitches.
    • The Edwin Rios story is going to get interesting. He has now hit two massive dongs in the early going and with no Pollock thus far, it opens up the DH spot. He is going to strike out a lot, but when he hits it in the air, it goes a long way. Dude has also lost a shit ton of weight.
    • Marshall Kasowski is going to be an interesting watch. His motion is weird as shit and that FB gets on guys fast, he struck out Barnes on a FB right down the middle in a count where he only threw FB's. His secondaries HAVE to get better though as I don't think he threw a single secondary until the 5th batter he faced and it was not a good pitch. He did retire all 5 big leaguers he faced in order.
    • Diego Cartaya caught a bit. Fun to see him get some time. He really is a big target back there and his receiving skills are not bad, but he has some work ahead of him back there.

I didn't watch as much as I wanted to yesterday, especially with basically our normal lineup out there and Kersh on the bump, but I will do my best:
    • Kershaw threw a couple of change ups last night and they were not overly terrible. One caught Hernandez by surprise and everyone had a good laugh. It was definitely a solid pitch with good location. Spotting his change up was always a major problem. It does not have to be an elite pitch with his mix, it just needs to be average and not middle-middle or 12 feet out of the strike zone when he throws it. Geren was squeezing our pitchers last night.
    • We are probably going to see a lot of Lux over the next couple of days. He does not look comfortable at the plate at all. He'd been crushing it all off season and I think Covid may have really messed him up.
    • Stripling does a great job of keeping guys off balance with his repertoire. He is not an ace, but man he really is a quality #5. Did a more than solid job of holding his own against our regs.
    • Everyone is talking about Corey Seager for good reason, but Chris Taylor has come back to camp hitting the absolute shit out of the ball.
    • Rios continues to make really loud contact. He hit another bomb, this one off of Kershaw and it was IN on his hands. Dude has some legit pop. His outs are line drives or deep fly's too and he absolutely punishes mistakes. Like I mentioned, he has trimmed up, but that ball flies off his bat.
    • Chico was benched for the rest of camp, but Roberts brought him back out after a team show of unity where they all came into his office and laid their jersey's on his desk. Chico also knows how to play a ball off the wall pretty well, haha.
    • Someone else that just does not look right at the plate is Bellinger. He seems to be swinging almost wildly at everything and being kept pretty off-balance. Dodgers pitchers are really challenging him.
    • Will Smith is having some better AB's. He honestly did not even look right to me in the spring still. He is taking some good pitches and getting some good hacks in. Though there is an argument to say that he is hitting against the guys he catches for and so he knows them incredibly well, same goes for Barnes right now too.
    • The club was talking about lengthening Caleb Ferguson back out as a starting pitcher, but my guess is with the conditions of this season, that dream is dead.

an effective change for kersh would be huge
problem last year+ has been the lack of disparity (speed) between his fastball and slider

    agree on taylor
its like the season can’t start soon enough for him and seager

love what i’m seeing from rios
will be interesting to see if Roberts can get him some abs once the season starts

    good stuff as always @ColoradoKidWitGame

In regards to Taylor, this was a post from Joe Davis earlier "Nobody talks about Chris Taylor. Found this interesting: since becoming full-time MLBer (2017), he's been the 20th most valuable player in the NL (by WAR), just behind Bryce Harper, just ahead of Conforto/Blackmon/Grandal." Taylor was god awful until the middle of June last year before throwing up a .922 OPS over over his last 50+ games. He has been messing with his swing for a while, so hopefully he has found something he is comfortable with.
