its obvious the math works i just wish they'd tinker w it a little
like not allowing the whole team to load up on one side
two guys on either side of second would make it a little more fun
ground balls into the shifts are boring af

When you rate the game using minmaxing which is what analytics is... players will value the outcomes that average out to numbers that will guarantee they achieve standards for a unionized wage slotted for folks that know the value of the meta game of making yourself into one of the base classes that can extract the most money in your next contract over the game of this at bat in front of them.

I’m just fascinated with the tools man. If you change the angle of your wrist just slightly by 1 degree it will change the outcome of the pitch. You can see the numbers and work accordingly. If your trying to dial in a two seamer and in general pens can throw maybe 4 good ones out of 10 and your just going by feel, it can take a very long time to get there. Vs. using the data , you can see the spin and angles on those 4 good ones and duplicate the efforts to get consistency faster. It’s just amazing the tools available now.

How come there's not a tool to teach a hitter how to bunt the ball to the side of the diamond that the shift has vacated?

You don’t need a tool for that. It’s common sense but unfortunately dead in the Pro’s.
Ask an MLB manager why they don’t bunt. Bunting is yesterday’s game in the pro’s.

I use the bunt all the damn time because at our level, it’s rarely defend correctly.

In HS we bunt because it’s still relevant and a fantastic way to push runners into scoring position which leads to runs across the board. I’ll trade outs for runs all day!

In the real world that we created bunts are for losers who don't know the value that analytics brings to your agents negotiating power in your behalf.
Nobody cares how many players you moved over or how many runs you helped manufacture when its time to get paid.
So if you care about bunts you are an uneducated rube that does not understand the realities of the game.
That the only things you will be paid for are the the things that the market values.
And the market does not value being a good baseball player.
They value being a good professional.
What kind of business do you think the MLB is running around here... amateur hour?
We haven't had that spirit here since 1989.

Bunting still has value to a team game period.

Bunting for hits and to move runners is dandy, but the best result would be to make the shift obsolete.

So happy that racism is officially over now that the Redskins are changing their name.

The name they have decided on is the Washington Noble Savages.
    To "honor Native Americans" everywhere.
"It is a good day to throw up"...

Just saw " Greyhound ", on a Plex download...Tom Hanks' new one, true story about the destroyer that helped cover the 1942 convoys to supply England. They were sitting ducks for the U Boot Wolf Packs for 50 hours each Atlantic crossing, because air cover range ran out and wasn't picked up again until close enough to Ireland.
Hard to believe over 72,000 men gave their lives in supply convoys then.
Really well paced and exciting, and a feast for WWII naval aficionados...well done and I always welcome a true story about American competence and flat out balls.
    Worth checking out.

...and wrote the screenplay for it too.
Astute observation, Devil, and it is a rarity. It would be counterproductive, imo, to discount him considering all the iconic and influential films he's been part of. Even Hollywood isn't that stupid.
Whether you like him or not, I think basically, talent and a higher level of professionalism rises to the top...still...once in a great while.
Praise all dieties for that small mercy...

back in the early 90s my step daughter went to an elementary here in Chatsworth where Rita Wilson's sister was a teacher
my wife never wanted to attend the school stuff so i was went alone w both the kids
we had a flirty eye thing happening for a few weeks and at one point my kid said she wanted to talk to me
definitely caught me off guard and in the short conversation i disclosed that i indeed was married to her mother
that was the end of that lol
found out a couple of weeks later who she was related to
she was cute but i couldn't tell you her name and couldn't find anything on the internet
