Hopefully this is just a Padres thing and not a slump we’re about to get into, cause we don’t face SD until late August and So it can be easy to forget this series. But damn, with the giants sweeping the Angels you hope this wasn’t an inflection point.
Nothing really positive to come out of this. All parts of the team looked not good. Not awful, but not good

I keep beating a dead horse but they just really haven’t hit a second gear. The team really needs to figure something out because if we go into a wild card game against them I don’t think we make it out. Padres play with fire. We don’t.

It’s far from just his fault but the Dodgers really need Mookie Betts to step the fuck up.

I mean if it somehow comes to that, they'll have to face Buehler, who tends to turn into about the best pitcher in baseball when it matters the most

i think you hit it on a previous post
even though you like dave you realize somethings missing...passion
a willingness to try something different in a given moment to wake the guys up
he just stands there w that look of confusion because he's doing everything right
winning clubs make their own luck

The Dodgers are just not that good this year. Some of the names in the lineup just are not doing the job....pitching and hitting.

Frustrating how they can't lay a glove on SD's starting staff.

Pads got the key hits and made the plays in the field (fuck off Manny) the entire series. Dodgers botch two plays in 8th and Pads throw their gloves at them in the late innings.

Victor's gone from reliable to erratic. So frustrating to watch a reliever struggle with his control.

Amusing to listen to him whine about his shit luck re. the HR ball. Hanging sliders/cutters get crushed, dumb ass. Nothing to do with luck.

i get what you mean but also: that Padres fire is wildly inconsistent. A week ago they looked dead. Same happened earlier in the year, they had all this great play and then went into a shit run of play where they looked lifeless. That’s why they’ve been behind us in the standings. It’s how we beat them when it mattered last year and how even during this series which ultimately was a sweep was mostly close. They’re a good team that’s not going to go away, but I’m way more concerned about the boring Giants who need to go on a slump SOON.

i think the Dodgers have proven over the last few years, and even this year, that they can go into a slump and come out of it on a hot run. I know my optimism will annoy but I just refuse to think we’re not the best team in the division and that the Padres won’t be looking up to us yet again. Like the 2017 DBacks, 2018 Rockies, and 2020 Padres that everyone was worried about

He’s so incredibly annoying and truly comes off like he cares more about his personal little games than winning games

He fed 8 straight Manny sliders/cutters in the AB that resulted in the HR. He finally hung one and Manny crushed it.

Next AB he finishes Manny (no homo) with a heater up and in. I don't get his thought process at times. Sometimes the smartest guy in the room isn't that at all.

The Dodgers have paid 102 milion dollars for a #3, and 245 million for a .265 hitter on the bench with a stomach
    problem. So far, anyway.
And the more I watch them, and see them managed the way they are, the more I realize that last year and the oddness of it, was the largest contributing measure in our success, along with a prolonged hot streak...and a healthy dose of being overrated and overpraised for finally winning it all. Best timing ever.
"Can anyone dethrone the Dodgers" was/is heard over and over about the 2021 season ...from all corners. The answer is uh..yeah...someone can. In fact, more than one.
What Betts, Seager, and a couple of others did last year was so great, but it just isn't happening again.
This series was embarrassing and eye opening, with barely a protest mustered by the champions of baseball.
And even if we do get it back on the field ( pitching and lineup) and finish off on top or near it, we will have to go through the Padres and Giants for sure. I don't know about SF, but we sure can't touch SD pitching, and certainly can't hold them down enough to beat them. They look hungrier, stronger and flat out better than we do.
I know all about the Mets back in the 80's, how they killed us regular season, but we beat them in the playoffs.
That was then, this is now.
We have to start tonight. Start winning.
    Tonight.
We cannot control the fate of SD or SF playing other teams. But we can control our own...if we roll over like little boyasses, then we simply don't deserve it again.
