Swanson is going to the Cubs officially making this 0ff-season an utter failure.

It's officially time to move on from Fraudman and Guggenheim should sell the motherfucking team if they are going to act this fucking cheap. Seager, Machado, Scherzer and Trea all gone in 4 years and no fucking replacements in sight.

Designated hitter J.D. Martinez and the Los Angeles Dodgers are in agreement on a one-year, $10 million contract, sources familiar with the deal tell ESPN.

    • Rumor has it that he Padres have been looking at Justin Turner to join their squad, according to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic.

Is it sexy? No, but JD Martinez still destroys lefties. As long as he is strictly a DH against lefties, that's not a bad pickup.

If they plan on using him as a full time DH, I'm not as okay with it.

lol for what? That infield is already packed. If they are trying to sign him, it's strictly a move to try to get under the skin of the Dodgers fan base.

Dodgers one of multiple teams in mix for free-agent right-hander Seth Lugo, sources tell me and @FabianArdaya. LAD most likely would build up Lugo to start, viewing him as added depth for rotation. If their young starters perform, they could always move him back to bullpen.

For sure his all-in numbers dropped but still put up a .998 OPS against lefties.

If we find a suitable lefty who can hit righties to platoon at DH (maybe Heyward lol but I won't hold my breath), that's all star level production.

JD Martinez does something that very few Dodgers players do….perform well in the postseason.

would love heyward to fill the void against rhp but, like you, i'm not real optimistic
i guess the front office had their reasons, but it seems like edwin rios would have been a nice option

Heywood sucks beyond human capabilities to grasp. Unless he has made some special sacrifice to the gods, he can only reach suckitude never attained before with us.
    Other than that, nice pickup.

I wanted to like Rios, he has great pop when he makes contact. Problem is, that's hardly ever.

For context, he and Joey Gallo had the same k% last year but at least Gallo redeems that a bit with a decent eye and walk rate. Gallo's walk rate was almost 10% higher.

Please don't hold your breath waiting for Heywood to be a competent DH. You seem like a good fellow, and although you can't really asphixiate yourself by doing so, you can cause some harm.
Something like betting a dollar to a donut is better, safer.
Used to say that in the army all the time, and still don't have a fucking clue what it means.

That contract JT got from the Red Sox is great for him.

Love him and what he did for LA.
