Lackey did well in last years playoffs. Some people can just turn that switch on come playoff time.

Huge win last night. Greinke was just what we needed, and Kemp is right back up there with my favorites for how he's come back this year. Ryu needs to pitch a huge game 3 and we'll definitely be in the drivers seat

All Hail Zack!!! Fucking nails, man. More velocity than ever before...great performance when we needed it most.
Matt, the comeback is just a beautiful thing to watch...keep swingin' that bat brother.
A little help from Puig and Uribe would be so nice...if Juan is going to be non compus mentus out there, give Turner a start. Juan looks pretty bad out there, flailing away like that. I know what he's done all year, but it is what it is...DBB can't manage like "we'll get them next time we see them"...it's different in the playoffs....you gotta get it now, from whoever; that's what they pay him for. To push the buttons NOW that need to be pushed.
Puig is very dramatic again; however, very zero offensively. Gotta make at least some contact...at least. He's not even near the ball.
He invited the diss by that scumbag Molina, who dismissed him like a brattish child in the first inning. That's pretty insulting, IMO
Farnk Sinatra said it best, I think , about payback: "the best revenge is to be hugely successful".
Concentrate on laying off that breaking pitch AGAIN, instead of all the thespian gyrations at the plate...c'mon, ese.
Go Ryu. You're gonna be pitching in the "show me" state...so show 'em how we do it...

A Cardinal fan...you can't hide it, no matter how one tries.
Even Vinny, ever so slightly, amps up when the Giants beat us.
It truly does suck...it's morphed into a weak, undependable entity that has to be feared when they come in. Kenley, by nature of his particular job, is as good as it gets or we could ever hope for. But getting to him is an adventure, and although DBB is not my favorite mgr., I can understand his problem with it. He always seems to pick the wrong guy anyway. Ned has paid a lot of money to a lot of guys who are a crap shoot, or even worse, not even on the roster.
If he's not being used as a starter, then use Haren as a RP. The guy has earned some mound time, and has been throwing well and has experience. I don't see what is wrong with that approach at all. Haren last night in the eighth would have been fine with me, but DBB is a psycho fiend for the R/L matchup, so no chance I guess. What good did it do with JP anyway? He's not nails at this time by a long shot...I don't care what he did in may and June. Now is now.
And Harold Reynolds , who is as informative as anyone else is , IMO, hit the nail on the head in the comparison about our bench to theirs...when he quipped" I'd rather have the Cardinal BP on the flip side".
    Yup. Fuckin' eh...

Had to attend a wedding yesterday and missed the game, but I looked like an anti-social asshole staring at and refreshing my phone the entire time. Greinke has balls of steel and Kemp saved us from a disastrous loss.

I just get the feeling that Ryu is going to either throw a shutout or give up 7 runs

Carpenter is 2-10 against Ryu with no HRs..controlling his bat would be a start

i hope LAD can stay locked in on the Cards. those developments in the other NL series have to make your mind drift a bit..you just know LAD would love to own the Gnats 1 last time this season.

hopefully we can get these next 2 in STL and get balls of steel - Greinke on the hill for Game 1 of the next series.

Guys like Puig and Uribe tend to struggle against good fastball pitchers. Their swings are just too long. I dont think Puig's head is messed up at all, I just think he was going against guys he can't hit. The Cards have a power pen, so I dont expect any late game heroics from them either.

Lackey isn't a great fastball pitcher anymore, so I think Puig and Uribe can do some early damage tomorrow. I feel pretty good about hitting Lackey, despite his history of clutchness. What we need Ryu to do is get deep into the game; he doesn't need to be perfect, because I dont think Lackey will be close to perfect. Our pen has proven they are very much the liability they were all year, so the key will be minimizing their participation in the game.

good point. Costas keeps talkin about Uribe's ability to catch up to 95 and punish it..i'm like wtf are you talkin about, Costas? Uribe does most of his damage on off-speed stuff. the dudes they have covering these games..smh. i was watching MLB network the other day and they were talkin about the top of our lineup and how " Carl Crawford had to get on base for Matt Kemp "..i just turned the TV off.

it wouldn't surprise me at all if Ryu gave up 3 or so runs in 4 innings and Haren had to come in and settle everything..give us 3 or 4 innings. i'm obviously hoping for better though.

Ellis said last night that they're gonna talk about a new way of approaching Carpenter. he's 2-10 against Ryu in their matchups, so i'm not sure that the old way won't work for a bit tomorrow.

but everybody that comes in after Ryu needs a new plan against Carpenter and hopefully it's one that doesn't involve plunking him. that'd only put our own players at risk for injuries/suspensions and maybe just as bad, plunking Carpenter might spark the Cardinals in the way that HBPs usually spark the Dodgers. let those fools sleep..LAD is controlling the majority of these games..Carpenter's really the only one resisting arrest.

pretty good numbers for CC and AGon.

our bullpen is so makeshift..i actually think League could've earned an increased role yesterday. hell, why not? Lol might as well see what they have there and if they can build a little more confidence/momentum. maybe let him share the high-leverage stuff with Howell. it's a damn shame when you're thinking of a reward system in October.

I'm with you on Andrew Miller this offseason. He impresses the shit out of me every time I see him pitch for Baltimore. He'd do wonders for our bullpen...wonder what Boston wanted from us at the deadline for him

whatever it was..missing out has cost us quite a bit anyway. all i can think of is maybe they looked at his availability this winter and decided they'd rather make run at him then. but right now we're all :worried: when it's winning time

100% all the time. You achieve your highest level when you play without the thought of getting hurt lingering in the back of your mind.
