It could also be that our front office is quieter in terms of leaking. The Ray's and A's weren't really teams who you'd hear lots of leaks from.

And yeah it's frustrating for now cause there's nothing else going on but stuff will pick up. Remember how mad we were at Greinke? Dude signed until late December. Shit happens in December. I mean only really the Cardinals, Braves and blue jays have done significant stuff. All other teams are in same position as the Dodgers.

Whenever I hear the word harsh, I think of "Aliens", and what Bill Paxton said when he was told they were closing in..."and what are we going to fight them with...harsh language"?
I guess Doughty is right; I'm not the voice of reason with this. Just a long suffering Dodger fan who is way tired of the same BS, whatever form it may take.
I still think it's a stupid thing to say publically...that basically, your job now is over your head. can't you keep that to yourself and work it out for crissakes? Not instilling the greatest of confidence...maybe that's why the other guy is making the move(s) instead of the GM.
Strange structure they have going on in the LAD FO, I can't help thinking.
All these brilliant guys in a Blue Think Tank...why it's like Alamagordo...coming up with the big bomb.
Where the suicide rate, at least was, the highest in the nation.

You mean the team that became the 'haven't got a pot to piss in Yankees' of the last couple of years?

Frank quitely, my dear, I have no desire to become that team.

And I will take exception to the statement from the man of the American League franchise about the winter meetings. Many deals, especially in the last couple of years, don't happen until after the first of the year and some until weeks before spring training. I see no sense of urgency, especially since I am of the camp that believes the trade route will be more heavily explored than free agency.

The Yankees after that got burned by bad contracts they gave to superstars, but the those Yankees teams were amazing with Paul O'Neil, Bernie Williams, Jeter in his prime. I'd take being those Yankees as long as we don't make the same mistakes they did. And seeing as how we got guys like Crawford, Dre, and maybe even Kemp on bad deals, we may have already gotten to that stage without the championship they won in '09.

I guess the guys who write that "it will come about by trading in the near future" etc., are right.
It probably will, since nothing has really been done, or very little. And the two people who were available who, IMO, we could have signed that we most needed (Bill Maddon, Russell Martin) are very gone.
So that leaves trading for one or the other, and obviously DBB is in like Flynn...why, I have no idea. Maybe he's "in line".
But trades mean giving up someone good to get someone good. Or in the LAD case, getting someone good for giving up someone great. All time great. Do we really want to see Kemp on another team raking, or do we need him in the everyday Dodger lineup? No post without him in '14, IMO.
And honestly, is there a BB fan over 14 years old that thinks if a superstar contract is signed, that the player is going to still be there at the end of it? Like Martin in a BJ uniform or Giancarlo on the Marlins ? So, a team can go after a player and "give" him the years and $ they want, because BB is such now that the check will never be completely cashed from the original team signing him.
That's why the "salaries in line" BS is well...BS. Take a flyer and fill the huge holes...in a few years, another team will have the guy eventually anyway.
I think before the first pitch is thrown on opening day, and it may be the very damn day before, the Dodgers will make a huge signing, spend a lot of money again, and NerdCo will drop the stupid Billyball environment shit that everyone thinks they were hired for.
Teams use Billyball at all, from it's inception, because they don't have enough money to compete with teams who do.
    Is that the Dodgers?

    I'm afraid so.

    remember it well
had pretty much given up on any hope of him coming here
all the media/sports talk of him coming to LA had pretty much stopped for several days (as i recall)
came home late from bartending one night and, with zero expectations, saw this
    i was excited, obviously
but i still remember thinking, "where the fuck did that come from?"

As others have said, the winter meetings are a whole confluence of events, teams and agents talking, deals get close. That results in trade talks for fall back plans on failed FAs. So on and so forth.

Appears that Friedman and Zaidi have traded for Adam Liberatore, 27 year old LH reliever from the Tampa organization.

    [IMG]Josh Norris @jnorris427 · 54m54 minutes ago
Former #Rays prospect Adam Liberatore has been traded to the #Dodgers

Could just be a filler for the AAA roster, but the fact that he is from Tampa leads me to believe they think he can compete for one of those last few bullpen spots.
    Numbers in the minors:

    Left-handed batters vs. Adam Liberatore in last 3 years: .175/.251/.235, 1 HR in 263 PA, 91 K, 20 BB

    • The Rays have whittled their list of managerial candidates down to three and will select either Royals bench coach Don Wakamatsu, Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash or Raul Ibanez. This means that bench coach Dave Martinez, their top internal candidate, will not be the Rays next skipper. Martinez has long drawn praise around the game and interviewed for several other managerial positions but come up short each time.
what are you waiting for andy?

I know patience is a virtue, but I am getting annoyed at how the front office hasn't done anything except bolster our Triple A team.
