missing bats late in games FTW. don't know how people are comparing this to " Hernandez/Correia " or Ned moves in general, but i guess you come to expect these kinda comparisons at this point. the fact that Peralta's now the 2nd best righty reliever in the pen, and sports a far better WHIP than those two bums ( Correia and Hernandez), should squash that kinda talk.
I mean I feel that any of us could post a better WHIP than Hernandez or Correia. I think it's a pretty solid move. It doesn't save the bullpen quite yet, but we're improving at least.
Does any one (besides me) think this move was really about the minor leaguer and not about Peralta? Peralta is getting the press because he is a veteran of MLB, but I believe the real value is in Liberatore. Not to say we won't get some mileage out of Peralta, but ultimately the prize should prove to be the AAA player.
Peralta is an ex-Ray so I could say without hesitation this was a Friedman acquisition and not a NedCo move himself.. Initially I was disappointed but the throw in so to speak Liberatore looks promising.
Yeah, but Loney went to the Rays under Nedco's regime. But you could be right about Andy making the move...which still makes me wonder, why are we talking about either of them when Al-zaidi is the GM? Just wondering...
In my view it's just a simple case of Friedman recommending Peralta and Zaidi making the move. Either way the activity we were looking for albeit boring is happening at a fast and furious pace.
