Kershaw also goes 34-0 with 34 CG's and a 0.00 ERA and dominates the post season and due to the excellent hitting and pitching, we trade our entire bullpen for prospects.

His reps are denying it and he's going to apparently shoot a video of him throwing tomorrow.

For real. I could definitely see a .290/.370/.490 triple slash from Dre, with 25 jacks for San Fran. While also hitting 11 home runs in the postseason lol

    good stuff...

Justin Turner Takes Joc Pederson Under His Wing
by Daniel Starkand | Dodgers Nation — March 05, 2015

In September of last season the Los Angeles Dodgers called up one of their top prospects, outfielder Joc Pederson. In the few opportunities he got, the 22 year old struggle, going just 4-for-28 (.143).

Despite struggling, Pederson gained valuable experience on what it takes to be an every day Major League player, which is of value as he battles for the starting job in center field.

Also helping him with the transition is super utility man Justin Turner. According to Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times, Pederson wasn’t shy when it came to asking Turner questions, which sat well with him:

“He loves to talk hitting,” Turner said. “He’s not afraid to ask questions, which I love. One of my pet peeves is when you’re around guys who have a lot of valuable information and you don’t ask them anything. When I’m around guys, I ask questions. I want to know what they’re doing, what they’re thinking, because I want to learn.”

Pederson believes that having Turner as a mentor will benefit him greatly:

“He took me under his wing this off-season and showed me a few new things, how to prepare for a long season,” Pederson said. “I’m fortunate for Justin taking me in.”
Pederson was the MVP of the Pacific Coast League last season, becoming the first PCL player in the last 80 years to hit 30 home runs and steal 30 bases. Pederson’s primary competition in center field is expected to be veteran Andre Ethier, though the club reportedly is attempting to trade the 32-year-old outfielder.

    • Fangraphs’ Kiley McDaniel posted his ranking of the Dodgers‘ top prospects today, and some fans may be interested to see that he ranked the highly touted Julio Urias ahead of fellow top prospect Corey Seager. While the two have similar future value and risk, in McDaniel’s estimation, most other outlets do have Seager slightly ahead of Urias. Of course, I’m splitting hairs by calling attention to the distinction, as McDaniel recently ranked Urias as the No. 4 and No. 6 prospects in all of baseball, respectively, and most agree that the duo ranks firmly in the game’s Top 10-15 prospects.

    • Dodgers shortstop Jimmy Rollins told Jon Heyman of CBS Sports that the Phillies presented him with four possible trade destinations: the Dodgers, Yankees, Mets and Padres. A report earlier this week said that the Mets may have been Rollins’ second choice, and he admitted to Heyman that was perhaps possible, but it’d have required some thought. The Dodgers, however, were his clear first choice, Rollins explained. He wasn’t interested in trying to fill Derek Jeter‘s shoes at age 36 (“If I was 26, OK. But I’m 36. There was not enough time.”) and he didn’t feel the Padres were close enough to competing. Of course, little did Rollins know what type of aggressive restructuring San Diego GM A.J. Preller was about to undertake. The shortstop also told Heyman he’s open to the idea of playing until age 40 and said the idea of reaching 3,000 hits (he’s 694 shy) holds great appeal to him.

    Puig smuggler gets prison sentence
    Updated: March 6, 2015, 10:56 AM ET
    Associated Press

MIAMI -- A businessman who helped Los Angeles Dodgers star Yasiel Puig get out of Cuba to sign a rich American baseball contract was sentenced Friday to a month in prison and five months' house arrest for violating U.S. immigration laws.

U.S. District Judge Robert Scola on Friday gave Gilberto Suarez, 41, less than the one-year maximum partly because his main role in the 2012 smuggling venture was having Puig driven in a taxi from Mexico City to the Texas border. Other conspirators, including boat captains and members of Mexico's violent Zetas drug gang, were involved in other stages of the trip.

Scola also said he was showing Suarez some leniency because Puig and others in the smuggling trip were threatened by the Zetas and possibly by corrupt Mexican police.

"I think the safety of the player and the other aliens was also paramount in his mind," the judge said.

Defense attorney Bijan Parwaresch said Suarez initially sought only to assist Puig in signing a Major League Baseball contract. Cuban players who defect often establish residency in a third country, such as Mexico, so they can sign lucrative free agent deals rather than smaller contracts if they come directly to the U.S. and are subjected to baseball's draft.

Where Suarez went wrong, he added, was deciding to take Puig to the U.S. border without immigration papers. Under the "wet foot, dry foot" policy, Cubans who reach U.S. territory are usually permitted to stay, even if their arrival is violates the law.

"It didn't start out with a criminal intent," Parwaresch said at a hearing. "It ended up as a criminal action."

Puig was first taken by boat from Cuba to a Mexican island near Cancun, then to Mexico City. Suarez was paid $2.5 million out of the seven-year, $42 million contract Puig later signed with the Dodgers, although Parwaresch said the money is now gone and Suarez is forfeiting to the government a house, a condominium and a Mercedes-Benz.

"He's basically left with nothing," the attorney said.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ron Davidson said it was important that Suarez got at least some prison time.

"We want to send a message that this type of crime should not be rewarded," he said.

So far, no one else has been arrested in the Puig case.

The plea agreement also requires Suarez to give up any interest in another Cuban player's contract, St. Louis Cardinals minor league shortstop Aldemys Diaz.

Puig, 24, hit .296 with 16 home runs and 69 runs batted in last season for the Dodgers. He finished second in National League rookie of the year voting in his first season.
