No you can't. My brother has TWC which comes with free service where you can watch a selection of channels on your computer or mobile device. Sportsnet LA isn't one of the channels they make available.

Best bet would be hooking up a sling box to one of their receivers if they don't mind.

It's a streaming video device like roku, only you can watch live TV. It was essentially designed for sports.

I'd say it's more like the opposite of a Roku. It's a box you would hook up at your brother or dad's house and it will broadcast their TV feed online, so you can then watch that feed on your computer from anywhere.

I feel bad for you guys big time being blacked out. Glad you guys aren't like all of the other morons on Twitter who constantly complain like there's no way at all to watch. I know it's an inconvenience, but if you really care about the Dodgers you'll find a way to get the games. It is 2015 after all.

It'll be a one time investment of actually buying the Slingbox itself.
Here is how you use it. As explained by a 13 year old

I watch our games on my roku device. They have an MLB.tv app, but those in the LA area would be blacked out I'm sure. Such bullshit that people have to go to such extremes to watch their favorite team play. I'd gladly lend my MLB.TV account info and pw to anyone on here if it'd enable them to watch the Dodgers.

I've never used a Slingbox so I don't have an endorsement or personal opinions for you
But it's just hooking your cable receiver up to the Slingbox via HDMI. You log into your Slingbox account or app on your computer or device anywhere in the world and your home TV is streaming to you.

Meaning you can watch Sportsnet LA as opposed to just the game plus NO BLACKOUT because you are just streaming your home TV.

So yes I would recommend it

Like TB, I've never used a Slingbox, so I can't tell you all the specifics. I looked into it last year as an option for watching Dodger games.

Basically you hook it up to a cable box, and it puts the feed online for you. You can then watch that cable box online (from anywhere in the world), and you can control that box online. If you are hooking up to a cable box at your brother's house, you may want to have your own cable box in his house otherwise you will be changing the channels on each other. I don't know anyone who has one personally, but all the reviews I've read are good. It sounds like a lot of white families use them when their kids go off to college because god-forbid Skyler doesn't have access to the 500 cable channels she's grown accustomed to, and god-forbid John and Kathy have to pay a separate cable bill for Sky.

Between the Slingbox and mlb.tv solutions, you really should get yourself set up with something better than shit streams. With a Slingbox you should be able to get rid of cable at your place, get your own box at your brother's place ($5-$10/mo), and watch all his cable stations from your Slingbox.

If you are in the LA area you can use a location masking service for about $5/mo. You just have to change the DNS settings on your Roku or modem, and it works.

@irish I did exactly what BM said and it has worked like a charm. I used streams all last year but I was sick of some of the streams lagging or being low quality, so I sacked up and bought the mlb.tv package for $120 and I pay $5/month to use a the location masking service unlocator.

I did this as well. Mlb.tv with Unblock -us.

However, @irish, if you want to watch the game on your tablet or smartphone when you're at work or running some errands you are screwed. This masking option is good but limits you to your home wifi. 4G or the WiFi at Starbucks does you no good. You'll be blacked out.

So if you are watching all the games at your house, MLB.TV w/ Unblock-us is a great option to watch the games.

If you want to watch games anywhere without having to mask blackouts and want to actually watch the channel itself...go with the Slingbox.

I concur with @BlueMouse about making sure your brother or dad's cable receiver isn't the one they are watching or you'll be changing channels on each other.

That's why I said it will need to be a receiver they have in an extra room or something.
