My car is a 93 so its actually older.
Got a compliment on it today. Get em frequently. Its a toyota previa.
Older computers have a ton of processing power as chips now are smaller and use less power but are not more powerful.
Just upgrade ram and hard drive and an old computer is a beast. Specially overclocked.
And if you just gonna use for the web and the cloud you never need to buy a new one.
Also never used a lcd TV or plasma.
I had a 72 inch mitaubishi dlp projection set that i gave to my cousin years ago. That thing still better than the lcd sets.
Have an old 36 inch mitsubishi with a tv box and rabbit ear antenna for whenever i get the itch to watch tv.
    Which is rare.
DSP is my chief source of electronic entertainment.
    Thats one way of fighting.
Divesting of things that require and foment material attachment.
Sometimes its as easy to start as changing your own oil.

yeah im not a fan of any type of monthly payment i can avoid
i still cut the back half on a ride around mower and recently let the gardeners go
will probably hire new ones one day but right now i'm around and it takes about two hours in the early evening nbd
still haven't cut the cable but its coming the end of this month
truck is an 02 tundra, car is an 00 lexus gs300 and they both drive excellent
the two vehicles together might be worth 10k but idc, like you i still get complements on them and im not trying to impress anyone
sold the motorcycles and toys a long time ago
atm im selling everything i accumulated through the businesses throughout the years
amazing what you can accumulate and i don't hold on to garbage, it all has worth
but i'm pointing to a simpler life and a montessori school lol
i think the devil may be winding down a little...

i have an 02 Tundra as well, thing is a beast.
huge engine, too huge, its been parked for like 3 years at least, probably more
nothing wrong with it, its got low miles... just stopped using it because gas was too expensive for a while
now i keep camping gear stored in inside the cab and soil in the bed.
im thinking of growing some sweet potatoes in the bed since it would be easy to just open the tailgate and dump out all the tubers.
or dropping in a large tarp and turning the truck bed into a hilbilly wading pond for the summer.
man i would give my left nut (not my right, thats the good one) for a small tractor.
i live in the foothills of the woods on a 500 acre parcel with a large horsebarn and i would love to develop the land with a series of shallow ponds to grow massive amounts of food like the aztecs and before maya would
intersected by streams with fish and and crayfish ducks and geese
poop from the fowls and exoskeletons from the water animals would keep the water super nutritious
you dont need much care once you set up the floating gardens and fill the ditches with water
dont need to fertilize or water plants or care about invading critters eating your crops
the simpler life is the best life
and now that i have a wife that also has farming experience and i have some seniors who want to help me too but i wont put them to work until i know i can build something sustainable
i would probably trade the tundra or one of the other cars for a tractor, i have a 97 civic collecting dust too
good clean mineral rich food in this age is the best wealth there is and these seniors really understand that
their social security checks wont allow them to eat well, they have to shop for food at the 99 cent store and buy real crappy stuff
what you get in the store even from whole foods is raised on commercial farms with depleted soils
    no minerals and no life
once i get myself a tractor (even a little old one) my production will increase by the tens of thousands
instead of planting half a dozen papaya trees at a time ill be planting in the hundreds at a time
this land is so fertile its crazy, the hills here are all calcium carbonate rich limestone and mineral rich red clay.
even if i wasnt well versed in permaculture and how to prepare the land for maximum yields this place would already be bountiful.
it used to have arroyos and gullys that are fed from the snow at the top back when i first moved here almost 20 years ago, but with the drought things have dried up.
it was well developed in the past, there are old style pumps to get the water up from the arroyos and all sorts of dams, fencing, and small buildings
it would be a dream to create this place into a wild garden of food and game
with a rustic golfing area and a place to hit baseballs like i used to do when i first came here. i used to golf a lot up here but i dont know how to golf
i just made holes in different places and stuck a large palm frond in the mud and grabbed an old club and some balls and had fun on my walks.
the land is very dry for half the year and then it gets wet and we get salamanders and frogs
lots of deer rabbits squirrel fox coyote and sometimes bears
i love the woods and the woods here could feed a ton of people
and if more LA residents would practice permaculture and chinampa style farming it would make the land so much richer and even change our desert climate over time

My kid goes to school with quite a few muslims. Very nice kids and parents. We chat sometimes and they are friendly to me. They are welcome in my home anytime. Unfortunately we aren't welcomed in theirs.

Yeah, same here..lived next door to Pakistanis and their little kid would knock on the door to see my dogs and get cookies. He would ride his trike in the driveways btween our houses. But the invitation was a one way deal.
When 911 happened, there must have been 20 of them hanging around outside, talking and milling around the porch. That area, Passaic and Paterson, NJ, had a lot of trouble following the attack. A poor Sikh was killed.
Basically, they were pleasant enough, but extremely aloof.
