I'm a little late on this response, but where does Maeda fit in that rotation?

Might fit into Montas' spot, if Montas doesn't ever get his ribs together.
Or if Montas just ends up in the pen.
    Or dealt away.

He's a Dodger pitcher not named Kershaw.

Dodgers close to adding starting experience
by Doug Padilla | ESPN Staff Writer — 4 hours ago

PITTSBURGH -- The All-Star break is just 16 days away and it remains a possibility that the Los Angeles Dodgers could have two experienced pitchers to add into the starting rotation by then.

Manager Dave Roberts did not rule out the possibility of both Brandon McCarthy and Hyun-Jin Ryu returning before the break. Both are with Triple-A Oklahoma City and working on their recoveries from completely different surgeries.

For McCarthy, his elbow was repaired with Tommy John surgery. Ryu is on the mend from shoulder surgery.

Ryu was the latest to make a minor league appearance and it wasn’t pretty. The left-hander gave up eight runs (five earned) in four innings, getting touched for two home runs among his 10 hits allowed.

Rehab starts are not all black and white, though, and Roberts was not ready to call the outing a disappointment.

“I think that the command, obviously, needs to be cleaned up and get better, but for us, it’s more how he comes out of it, how he feels and just seeing the increase in velocity is a good thing,” Roberts said.

Roberts said Ryu had a fastball in the 90-mph range. It seems fairly obvious, though, that some improvement is still necessary before he comes back to Los Angeles.

“It’s a possibility as he makes this next start and seeing how he comes out of it ... we don’t know where he slots in, but there certainly is a possibility,” Roberts said.

McCarthy seems to be about one start behind Ryu on the comeback trail. He went just 3 2/3 innings in his most recent start this week, giving up three hits and one run.

“I don’t know the exact number but I think he touched 93 (mph) and I think the average was 91,” Roberts said. “I might be off a mile per hour, but right around there.”

After a year of recovery for both pitchers, the moment of truth has nearly arrived.

“It’s right there, yeah, and it’s depending on what we need with our rotation,” Roberts said. “But (McCarthy) and Ryu are in the same situation.”

Ryu's situation does not look good. Why are we rushing him to start when he doesnt look close to 100% and we keep slipping firther behind in the NL West? I'd rather we bring up some AAA prospects and give them some experience. Afterall, I thought this team was about prospects.

McCarthy should be almost back, and if Ryu feels good and is able to command his stuff he should be up too. Better than whoever that guy is they threw last night.

The idea of a healthy Brandon McCarthy still doesn't excite me, but he's definitely a better option than that guy we picked out of the stands last night and Bolsinger.

Bowden is pretty close with Kasten and he laid out what LAD feels they need the other day, a #2 level starter was one of them so we wait and see if they can pluck a Teheran, Gray or Archer, the last two having down years so maybe neither of their teams sell.
    Other options will surface tho.
Until then, score some damn runs and keep winning series/running off winning streaks

    this
    yesterday pissed me off
we essentially gave that game to the pirates by letting some hack pitch
no velocity is okay if your pitches have movement and you can locate them
but when you've got no velocity, no movement, and you're throwing pitches right down the middle...
surprised the pirates didn't score more tbh
yes, those same pirates that laid down for the giants

The Rays have lost I think 9 in a row so given the history of Freidman with them maybe we can pluck Ordorizzi instead of Archer because that would take an ENORMOUS haul but that is pure fantasy and all 2,000 Rays fans would revolt.

I think the projected approach was to "hang around" somewhete near the Giants, and hope the walking wounded the SR is composed of absolutely on purpose would come back and rescue us.
But the chink in the armor is our " vicinity" of hanging around isn't in the immediate neighborhood. It's maybe in the next town over, if that...and getting ridiculously more distant.
Aside from the obvious, that the Giants are presently a far better team, even though silly " lucky" "assy" and the ever popular "they get all the breaks" is used to explain it ( as it is for the 3 out of 5, lol), when you win 6 in a row, and continue to fade in the standings, there's a message in it somewhere.
Moreover, it's not the first time some lump of shit has been out there for us under this FO, and it won't be the last.
I guess this is not the kind of depth everyone is talking about.
I wish they could use the other kind...
Can't say I know shit about this guy Montas except he can bring it...but he seems like the Staypuft Marshmallow Man...only bigger. Wtf? Damn, whether you lick FO taint, or can't stand them, I'm pretty sure most will admit they have a knack for getting some damn major injury prone players.

Yeah I was just rattling off options, again, more will surface as the deadline nears.
They tried for Odorizzi in the offseason IIRC
