Exactly. That's if he could even reach the plate without bouncing it

The worst SP decision I've seen since Carlos Perez. Probably worst.

At least he'd have the common sense to not show the ball and then shotput BS batting practice to MLB hitters...

Idk. Their first offseason was good. Letting Hanley go and trading Kemp alone opened the gates for Joc, Seager, and Grandal (pre-injury version). Got younger, more athletic, and cheaper up the middle. Most of their deals seemeed to be good. I hated the Mccarthy deal that year though.

Their 2015 deadline was a huge letdown. Ryu went down in spring training...meaning they knew for 6 months that Brett Anderson would be the game 3 starter in the NLDS. They did nothing. Or whatever they did failed.

The further we go, they're getting less impressive. Deals even I thought were genius turn out to break even at best. Their reluctance to invest in proven players is frustrating, primarily with the pitching staff. We are 7 games under .500 when Kershaw doesn't pitch or something like that. Too many oft injured journeymen.

Some of this has to come from Guggenheim I'm thinking.

Boehly announced the payroll reduction but their moves are horrendously flawed and reek of incompetence, as evidenced by their fetish for everyone elses POS castoffs. If they want to go cheap at least bring in players who can play or field the whole fucking AAA team.

I think they view this as a transition year. Letting the 300M payroll Dodgers start to expire as they usher in a new Era of young players. And they will pounce on a few big time FAs when the time is right. 2013 and 2014 were years to win a world series and the team failed. Now, we are in stay competitive mode (5 games of the division and a wild card is almost a victory. If we get hot in the playoffs, it's icing).

Problem is, their transition phase moves are piling up to be not-so-low-risk like they thought. Mccarthy and Kaz for instance are locked in for multiple years. They've made some bad moves and could've done a much better job.

This is not a great roster for this marketplace. The 'depth' and 'economical' lineup each night is not a Los Angeles product. Attendance is down 3k per game from last season (at least), the games aren't on TV, and talking to other season seat holders and surrounding fans, the ballpark experience has deteriorated over the last 2 seasons. Make fun of me all you want, but Emirates was the biggest press conference Guggenheim had this offseason. We are owned by a financial firm and it's starting to suck the fun out of all of this. No buzz, not one sell out.

That said, to jump to the #1 farm system in baseball without having to tank every season is a great accomplishment and the ownership has delivered on their mission statement. Need a world series though and a product that resonates with this city. Get the games on TV and get more star power into the lineup.

He had some decent numbers at AAA, but was throwing batting practice to a struggling team last night. A lot of the outs were ropes, too.

Pen didn't do its part, either.

Shame to waste a 6 run effort from the offense and at the same time maybe giving a boost of confidence to the slumping Pirates.
