And I said I'd be ok with it if we were 8.5 back or less after today. Giants are 1-8 since the break. Talk about coming back to Earth.

Don't want Beltran, I know he is producing, but he is 39, and would have the DH to save his health. Bruce might be a nice addition, but what is he going to cost? He is only signed through next year, and im not sure we can get him and not give up Belanger or Verdugo. Id give up RHP Beuhler for him. Our bullie is fine, it is tied for the best ERA in mlb, and the best WHIP in mlb. Miller is not going anywhere. The tankees gave up Chapman, they are keeping Miller to build around. Id take Archer, but I would not give up Urias for him.

 

The best part? One of the HR was due to a Gnat fan reaching over the wall. And one foul ball that could have been caught by a Reds player was caught by some son of a Gnats fan over the wall.....and the father promptly covered his face with his Gnats hat instead of giving his son some comfort.

Sale's non-apology apology, plus his shot at Ventura and the FO at the same time suggests to me that this relationship is done.

Something tells me that Sale wants something to happen quick. And maybe the Dodger FO should play a little hardball right now.

Upton in that Jays lineup could be really interesting. His avg and OBP are not good, but those along with his SLG should tick up a notch playing in a hitter friendly dome now. Petriello posted an overlay of his flyball outs at home and he would have had 5 more bombs based on distance alone, plus probably up to 9 more on top of that if the marine layer wasn't there. That lineup could really wreck some havoc down the stretch if some other bats get going.

 

Just saw the proposed trade with the As...we get Reddick and Hill...and give up Barnes, JDL and someone else...sorry I forgot. Looks like an awful lot, but there it is.

 

Kid actually made a good catch, it's just that the ball was in foul territory but still playable I think. Once the Reds player saw the kid, he pulled up a little and let the kid catch it.

But the family was right along the left field foul line, and the dad, after at first smiling, started to realize what happened and that the TVs were trained on him, and promptly out his head down and hid his face with his big ol Gnats cap covering his head.

Meanwhile, poor kid starts to get the kinda awkward smile like "dad....ummm...did I do something wrong?"

In my book, not really, but the dad could have at least hug the kid.

 

I think Beltran is a good option. He's mashing this year, a switch hitter, historically clutch as hell, and since he's old we can get him for basically nothing probably.

 

As far as getting an Andrew Miller or Chris Sale, it will take a hell of a multi team deal, prospects, major league pieces and creativity to get it done.

 

I didn't see the play, but if you are sitting in an area where you can interfere with a live/playable ball you need to be aware of that. And if you have a kid in one of those areas it's your job to make sure the kid knows not to interfere with a ball before slapping a glove on his hand. Adults and kids alike, I see way too many people in front rows reaching over walls, sometimes falling on the field, just to grab a $5 ball.

 

Kenny Williams and Ozzie Guillen had one of the most notorious beefs in recent history and it went on for years.
I doubt the CHISox will ever be forced to do anything they don't wanna do.
