Puig has it all figured out.
Has assimilated far better than people think.
Knows he doesn't actually have to be a good player to be noteworthy and relevant.
    Yasiel Kardashian.
    Believe it.

    if it had stopped there
here he is talking about it -- during the nlds
and before you say "rosenthal", puig interrupted the interview of edgar gonzalez
(who was talking about adrian and NOT the wbc)
and started babbling on about how badly he wanted to play for mexico
so yeah, i still question his focus

They both deserve the real awards too when they come out. Seager should win it unanimously. A lot of fellow Cub fans think Maddon should win, but it's a lot easier when you have the players. Roberts did more with less. Especially will all the injuries you guys had.

    Public relations.
I mean what are the odds that Puig's become a new man post-demotion when the domestic violence investigation before last season didn't even straighten him out and keep him from acting like a jackass behind the scenes ( like I hoped it would at the time)?
The team is gonna say whatever they have to, did a pretty good job of keeping all his BS in-house before the big blow out at the deadline.
The snapchat vid that Puig posted where he was having the time of his life down in AAA..Lol
But then he gets back to the bigs and says " oh AAA was horrible " Haha
What about it was horrible, bruh?..because it looked as if you were having the time of your life on snapchat...
Maybe he found the work horrible.
Sounds about right for a guy with questionable work habits.
Again, the dude admittedly hoped to be traded rather than demoted to work out all his shit.
So yeah, he's selling, but I'm not buying..Dodgers seem to be done buying BS as well.
Bring on the shelved Milwaukee deal.
He made OKC fun, I'm sure he'll have fun in Milwaukee.

As an outsider I'm probably not the best person to speak on the situation. But Puig seems selfish and immature to me. I agree with Irish and Fall Winslow. He should have been focused on the postseason more than anything. Who knows how many chances you'll get?

hey einstein, they're not calling you because they trust you...
they're calling because they know how easily they can bamboozle you
a misunderstanding of where the team was storing medical information on players???
asshole, you're supposed to disclose this type of information up front!!!
and it's a little late to be "best in class/top of the line" when everyone knows what a piece of shit you are

Preller says reputation not hurt by suspension
Associated Press — 17 minutes ago

SAN DIEGO -- Padres general manager A.J. Preller says 10 teams have inquired about players since his 30-day suspension by MLB ended, a signal that his ability to deal with other teams wasn't damaged by the unprecedented punishment.

Preller was suspended on Sept. 15 for failing to disclose medical information when All-Star lefty Drew Pomeranz was traded to the Boston Red Sox in July.

Preller says there was no intent by the Padres to deceive the Red Sox, but rather, a misunderstanding of where the team was storing medical information on players.

Preller says the Padres intend "to be best in class, to be top of the line, to be aware of what the minimum standards are and to be above that" in reporting medical information about players involved in trades.

Not shocking.....it's the Padres after all. But in all seriousness, MLB should have banned him for a lot longer.

I agree. Padres should be fined and had draft picks taken away.

Well, he can't play for Cuba. If I'm not mistaken, he had to establish Mexico residency before signing with the Dodgers, so he's as Mexican as he is anything else.

Honestly, I don't have a problem with Puig's attitude. Culturally he's had a lot of growing to do. I like the his aggressive style of play. My problem with him is he's just not that good.

He's right though. His reputation was already down the toilet when he traded for Myers/Kemp/Norris/Upton/Kimbrel, signing Shields, and most importantly, trading Trea Turner. Fuckin idiot

    Sure.
But when you compare him to some of the other mainstays on the team how is he that bad?
There are 3 guys on the team who are there mainly for glove/arm. Joc, Puig, Grandal.
You could probably throw in guys like Adrian, Utley, and Reddick.
I dont think Josh Reddick is better than Puig all around.
The only thing he is better than Puig at is hitting righties.
But Puig is better at hitting than Joc, Grandal and Utley.
And Puig probably realistically has Adrian type power. Which is still more than Reddick seems to display lately.
This team needs guys that hit lefties, guys that run the bases hard, guys that play aggressive, guys that can play everyday, and guys that can defend well in the outfield.
Puig fits all of that. So via that crtieria Puig is a very important part of this team.
So if bygones be bygones and you arent that affected by his attitude and like his style then his skill set and his ability to add what the rest of the team lacks should be a reason why you may think he is a good player for the dodgers.

Yoenis Cespedes expected to opt out of Mets contract
by Chris Cwik | Big League Stew — 55 minutes ago

The World Series is still in full swing, but it’s never too early to start thinking about free agency. The first big offseason news dropped Wednesday, as it appears New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes will opt out of his contract and become a free-agent, according to Jon Heyman of Today’s Knuckleball.

Cespedes has reportedly made his decision, but his management team will not announce the move until three days after the World Series, according to Adam Rubin of ESPN. That’s the deadline for Cespedes to opt out of his deal.

The decision to leave early doesn’t necessarily come as a surprise. Cespedes’ three-year, $75 million deal with the Mets included an opt-out clause after just one year, and many speculated he would only remain with the Mets for just one year.

It was somewhat of a shock when New York found a way to re-sign him last offseason. Cespedes was expected to receive a mega-contract on the market, but chose to return to the Mets after leading the team to the World Series. It was assumed part of the reason they were able to get a deal done was due to the early opt out.

The move made sense for Cespedes. By taking that contract, he could remain with the club for one more shot at a championship, but still hit free agency with a chance to receive a huge deal. Cespedes made $27.5 million with New York in 2016. He’s leaving $47.5 million on the table by opting out of his deal.

He shouldn’t have any problem making all of that back. The 31-year-old outfielder turned in yet another excellent offensive season in which he hit .280/.354/.530, with 31 home runs. He’ll be one of the most coveted players to hit the free-agent market.

According to Rubin, Mets officials expect Cespedes to seek a five-year deal this winter. They are not optimistic about re-signing him this time around.

The team has known this was a possibility for quite some time, which is why they went out and acquired Jay Bruce from the Cincinnati Reds at the trade deadline. New York is expected to pick up Bruce’s $13 million option for 2017, according to Rubin.

While the move hurts the Mets, it won’t be a total loss. The team can, and likely will, extend a one-year, $17.2 million qualifying offer to Cespedes once he officially opts out. Cespedes will almost certainly decline that offer, meaning the Mets will receive a draft pick as compensation should he sign with another team.

They can also re-sign him, of course, though that seems unlikely. That’s precisely what everyone was saying at this time last year, though, so maybe there’s a chance the team can pull off another miracle move in the offseason.

Two things would happen with Cespedes if he signs with us:

    1) He sucks
    2) Tears it up during the regular season; does awful in the postseason
