And in my travels it's ALWAYS that way too

the little hole in the wall shop owner or local cafe waitress told you about something not on the beaten path, or in the guidebooks, and then you arrive and it's simply stunning. Local knowledge FTW, wherever you happen to be.

    horrible, horrible news
chris berman's wife of 33 killed in a traffic accident
i've been as hard as anyone on berman
and while i don't necessarily take back anything i said
i don't wish this on anyone
no one should ever have to go through anything like this
thoughts and prayers to the berman family

Yeah I saw this too and was going to post before I got distracted.
Sad day form him we agree

The news I'd read, Hartford Courant, stated that she was 67 rear ended the other driver an 87 year old man who had slowed for some reason and she hadn't noticed.

Don't want to know if a cell phone was present but when you rear end someone hard enough to kill BOTH drivers then you clearly weren't paying attention.

And the old man was returning from visiting his wifes grave.
    So sad.

You have been hard on Berman, though he'd probably fess up to earning it. He must know he's a blowhard because for that exact skill is where his coin arrives.

Don't beat yourself up. They had 150+ years between them. We all gotta die.

Sean is favorite 007, but Roger was cool as The Saint. Loved his Volvo
P1800. Even had one for a while.
He even made it to knighthood.
    Yes, Simon...RIP.

Every Dodger fan should catch the latest Real Sports.
There is a segment on Jaimie Jarrin, which is not only fascinating, but tbh, a little eyebrow raising. Plain and simply OMalley was not quite as made out to be.
I never knew they displaced 1,000 Latino families who were living in Chavez Ravine to build DS, and eventually, physically dragged some families out of their homes, kicking and screaming, and razed their homes to the ground...while they were watching!
And the O'Malley promise to relocate those families was never kept.
Initially, the Latinos hated the Dodgers, and rightly so, imo.
But the advent of Jarrin, with the clever help of Vinny, slowly turned it around.
Great footage and revelations galore...don't miss it!

I will be sure to check it out. As far as Chavez Ravine, I've seen it talked about in a few documentaries and it's definitely a dirty history we try to keep on the down low.

Yeah...And I certainly can see why...
Funny...they hated him in Brooklyn with a passion, and it really wasn't him who forced it to happen ( as the story goes) for taking their beloved Dodgers away from the borough, and he was hated by thousands for bringing them to LA.

LA has been monumentally lucky to have had these two guys for all these years.
Would the Dodgers have had the fan base they do without them ?

And the year before ad Infinium.
Guess what, it will get worse with every year longer you are on this earth.
Because everyone you know or have heard of is older and one year closer to death.

    Which is stupid.
Judging people for shit that happened in another time is like judging cavemen for hitting women over the head with their clubs.
It is what Jesus meant when he said 'you killed all the prophets who you know deify as saints and now you want to kill me too'.
You can put on rose colored glasses or some shit colored ones but you will never be able to truly understand how things were back then.
So to try and judge the people involved is not only wrong but it has no merit.
For all the rule of law people on this board it is always funny when it touches something that involves us. Because I am sure those people were living there illegally. Which is not the point i know but for many your legal status determines if you have the right to be a 'victim'. I know fucked up huh, but you know many people feel like that. If you are an illegal who jumped a border to get here then you are basically an inch away from being seen almost like a borderline possible terrorist that needs to be booted out of hte country or at least not allowed sanctuary so they can set up shop and live here. I live in an area like Chavez Ravine, it is awesome and understand why the mexicans went there. Nobody wanted to live where I live and now that this mexican has been there for nearly 20 years the McMansions are popping up everywhere.
I was almost moved out a few years ago when they tried to make a new golf course up here but the city wont let the owners develop the land without turning 75% of it over to the city to create a nature park.

I would not be scared to mention what happend all those years ago.
Nor ashamed. The Dodgers of today had nothing to do with what those Dodgers did.
Would be like asking Dirk if he feels shame for all the Jews the Germans killed.
The Dodgers organization has nothing to be ashamed for.

From the books I've read recently, quite a few, they all portrayed OMalley is a cheap bastard, plain and simple. In every way possible.
