Couple of thoughts. Bellinger's RBI single was amazing. Shift? Just gonna poke one to this gaping hole. Very fucking frustrating that he is the only MLB player I know who takes these free hits. Eventually, they will stop the shift with RISP, and he can get more hits in the long term with a more traditional field placing. Fucking simplicity.

Maeda was awesome. Competition brings out the best in people. Alex Wood started the year in the bullpen, Ryu was in the bullpen, Maeda was in the bullpen. There's no taking starts for granted from these guys, they have to step up or get out. Something Rich Hill should be learning the hard way soon. Internal competition breeds success. I know from experience. Well, not me personally but a guy I know, him and her GOT IT ON.

Joc homers off a lefty. Take note please Dave. Your starting CFer isn't going to get any better sitting days on end.

And lastly. I want to see Verdugo and Calhoun. Forsythe, Chase... meh. Taylor and Kike, two of the best utility guys in the bigs. Neither should be starting unless required by circumstance. Trayce? Boring. Perfect time of the year to get these guys in there and see what they've got. Want to go all the way this year? Look what Bellinger has done, why not try again? 76 year old Chase ain't gonna be driving in five runs in October, who's to say these kids can't? Give them a shot, then go into the trade deadline knowing what we need, because we might already have it, or can prioritise other needs.
