He's been battling knee soreness so not a made up injury in this case.

He was interim GM for a half a season after Claire was canned.

Not sure that knee injury doesn't flare up if he wasn't attacked by the yips the other night.

Not crying over a Cub/Montero but Rizzo goes on twitter to say rightfully so that Miggy was selfish but at least Miggy did it in an interview while at the park. Rizzo does it on twitter away from the clubhouse and that isn't even an issue. Now I don't know for sure if he didn't do it personally but this is just chicken shit. Fuck them all.

I really worry about Montero going somewhere like Colorado. Sure they are struggling right now, but catcher is far and away their weakest position. This would net them a serious upgrade at the position for only money and they can then use their stockpile of solid prospects to net them a solid starter/reliever instead of maybe having to spread out their chips.

Whether or not Arrieta was slow to the plate, how does Montero explain runners' 100% success rate in stolen bases on him this season, or his league worst 2.15 second pop time? Arrieta wasn't the only pitcher he caught.

I know nothing is set in stone with our organizational heads, but I have a hard time believing at this point that the FO is saying, "We can make it with this." The Urias injury was probably a major blow to their rationale of standing pat, but with what happened the other day with McCarthy, it showed that he is probably a ticking timebomb at this point. I am thrilled with what he has done this year, but boy oh boy, I think he's always going to have that line drive in the back of his mind and you just can't count on him(I in no way can blame him for that). Even if Rich Hill and Maeda make some sort of miraculous turnarounds, only Hill has the stuff where if it is running at a 100%, you'd want him out there in a big game for you.

I believe that the FO will wade out into the top end pitching pool, but at this point I am hoping that it is not at the expense of Verdugo. I am probably prospect hugging pretty hard at this point, but I fully believe he will be an elite bat to pair with Seager and Bellinger. The only negative reviews on the guy ever have been attitude(but is best friends with apparently a fantastic example in Calhoun) and that he does not hit enough homers. Not a problem to me when you are spraying continuous line drives into the gaps. I don't think there is a single other player in the system where I would be upset about moving, but Calhoun would definitely make me a bit on the sad side. None of our pitching excites me as it did in the spring aside from maybe Dennis Santana.

With all of that said, not even sure who they can target at this point where we are all going "WOOOOOOOOO!".
    - Quintana is in the midst of a shitty year
    - Gray is ok
    - Verlander has been poo and his contract blows
    - Stroman is doing alright
    - Cobb could be turning things around(still not better than a Kershaw/Wood or right Hill)
    - Darvish & Hamels are going nowhere
    - Giants aren't sending us Cueto
    - Cole has been so so, but a lot better lately.

Those are not some very fun pickens'. Granted some of these guys could step up in a pennant chase, but who knows. There is no doubt in my mind that this FO is going to have to add a frontline starter to put between Kershaw and Wood, but getting one is going to be a tough task.

Quintana has been very good lately. June he is 2 - 1 with an ERA of 1.76 so I think he has righted the ship. My issue with him is that he's left handed and we have too many of those. The Sox are the only team really that's thinking they are in a rebuild mode and the Tigers are under the assumption that they are still in it. I agree though that the pickings are very meh but maybe a change of teams helps Verlander and his GF would appreciate it. If we are thinking that we want JD then maybe Verlander comes in the same package, who knows.

Yeah, i really don't think any of those guys are worth anything in our top 10. Would we be able to get one of those guys with say Joc/Stewart/Lower Prospect?

Archer could end up being out there again as well
Rays are 3 games out of 1st in the east, but they're under .500 on the road have 5 or 6 more games @ home thus far, so their current 9 game road trip could be unkind
Already talk of the Braves being interested and making a push for Archer
