I think it’s insane to not want him back when he’d only cost money

I fully expect Arrieta and Darvish to sign elsewhere(probably Cubs and Nats), then some team will come knocking to take Kemp off our hands just in time to really twist the knife after missing out on those two.

But can we do it and stay under $197 M?

I think this only works if Darvish takes a discount, and even then, we might have to move people.

It just seems like the FO is eyeing next year and not this coming season as the WS target year. Not that they don’t want to get there this year, but they seem to be willing to take that risk of seeing what we can do this year and really push in the next.

I don't think that is necessarily true, the club is under some BS obligation by MLB to get their salary number below a certain point. I am sure they do not want to waste what could be Kershaw's final year on the club with another NLDS or NLCS finish. They are currently rumored to be talking to Darvish in the 4 year $70M range unless they can move some other pieces around. They really can't do anything until they free up another $10+M it seems from this years books. If they truly were just playing for next year, they probably could have just held onto everyone in the Braves deal and moved Forsythe, Grandal and Ryu instead to have way more money freed up next season.

They have young outfield pieces galore in Mil so I think it could happen and I hope it does.

Brewers have a strong farm period
With the Cubs showing cracks and STL wobbling along, it's definitely time for them make their move

Astros’ Singleton and Deetz suspended for failing drug tests
by Bill Baer | NBC Sports — 2 hours ago

MLB.com’s Brian McTaggart reports that Astros first baseman Jonathan Singleton has been suspended 100 games after testing positive for a drug of abuse for a third time. Minor league pitcher Dean Deetz has been suspended 80 games after testing positive for Dehydroclormethyltestosterone.

Singleton, 26, has had issues with marijuana in the past and opened up about his addiction several years ago. He said, “At this point it’s pretty evident to me that I’m a drug addict. I don’t openly tell everyone that, but it’s pretty apparent to myself.” He added, “I know that I enjoy smoking weed, I enjoy being high and I can’t block that out of my mind that I enjoy that. So I have to work against that.”

Singleton hasn’t played in the majors since 2015. Last season, after going all the way back to Double-A Corpus Christi, he hit .205/.376/.397 with 18 home runs and 62 RBI in 500 plate appearances.

Deetz, 24, was selected by the Astros in the 11th round of the 2014 draft. Between Corpus Christi and Triple-A Fresno last season, the right-hander posted a 4.25 ERA with a 97/50 K/BB ratio in 84 2/3 innings of work. He denies knowingly using a PED, per ESPN’s Keith Law.

It might not be, but smoking sure as hell is. There is something to the oral fixation and the daily repetition of something that sparks chemicals in your brain that creates habit then compulsion and finally addiction.
The reason its not 'addictive' is because you can quit whenever you want to. Quitting is not easy of course, but its just a matter of ballpower, you gotta nut up and take the big hit.
If you are healthy there should not be much in terms of withdrawals other than feeling a little sick for 3 days.
If you use weed to cover up health issues (it just covers them over so you don't feel/care about the symptoms as much) and then try to quit... fuck.
That is 3 days of hell followed by 2 weeks of purgatory where you still feel you need to smoke real bad sometimes. After that, there is no more need to smoke but you still want to smoke for like the next 3 months of rehabilitation. After month 3 you should not get those urges to want to smoke anymore (at least not constantly). Then comes 3- 6 months where you trust the doctors and take your pills and work on your symptoms that way while at the same time making the lifestyle changes to improve your symptoms the right way.
I went to the lake couple weeks ago and as soon as I got out the car the sweet smell hit me and It felt nice just to smell that sweetness again. I love that smell, I cannot lie. Got flashbacks, the good kind. I got the urge/want but not the need.

Lorenzo Cain has been said to have narrowed down his choices and Chris Camello is now saying the Dodgers have showed interest in him. He doesn’t have anything beyond that, but would think that if he has this update, the Dodgers are likely one of the finalist for his services. A deal for Cain would in my opinion, likely begin a domino effect of other deals involving the club.
