This franchise will never recover from their choke job

Seager will go down as a relative disappointment when we look back on his career. Mental errors in the post season, clueless AB's, injuries, and the inability to carry an offense will be what he's remembered for. He'll never have a WAR above 6 again. Never. Justin Turner is so much better than the Cal Ripkin 2.0 we were supposedly getting.

Kershaw's career ended in game 5. Biggest choke artist in Dodger history. I hope he opts out and goes somewhere else. It hurts but he failed us one too many times and now doesn't even have the regular season excellence to back him up. Walks and HRs keep climbing

If we win our next game, I will probably say we're WS favorites

    Life of a Dodger fan.

I really think his choke job in last year's WS is still in his head. He's over compensating, and it's hurting the team.

I think the team hasn't done a lot of favors for him in terms of scoring runs when needed, but last year's team was an offensive juggernaut, so I don't think he has that excuse for last year's opportunities.

We really need a fresh No 1 SP. Maybe Walker can fill the role, but we need a proven post season ace.

    Walker?? He's not close.

    Maybe in 2020. Maybe.

All the huge cracks the FO cultivated by their signing of douchebag reclamation projects, letting a number 1A starter go to the team we'll most likely be looking up at all year, and letting an integral piece of the bp walk, and depending on proven choke artists like Baez, has come home to roost.
And picking up guys like Stewart who are nothing more than mop up guys, contribute and opens all the wounds from doing barely anything offseason.
The so far excellent Cingrani merits mention, but what about the other garbage they throw out there like Muncy?
Depth is fine, but how deep a garbage heap do we need?
    Fucking cannon fodder.
This team at this point is not good enough to sustain the bottom dwellers we sprinkle throughout the line-up and bp and maintain success. Unless the plan is to stay around at Mediocrity City, and put all our eggs in the 18/19 FA basket.
Just maybe we are not as far away from it all as we presently appear, but you can't coach or manage away lack of heart and apathy, and choking , imo.

We had a similar record this time last year.
Hopefully Kershaw begins a streak of seasons where he is not the Cy Young type during the season he has been all these years and instead becomes Cy Young in the playoffs.

hard to be optimistic when they play such poor fundamental baseball
terrible approaches -- no emphasis on moving runners over, only on swinging for the fences
barnes trying to go to 3rd on a ball hit in front of him was a microcosm of this team... no focus, heads not in the game
kenley showed up fat and un-enthused
bellinger still hasn't learned to hit/take that pitch off his back foot
    seager looks, well... shitty
and like i said earlier this season, we are probably beginning to enter kersh's decline -- whether we're willing to admit it or not
i love the contributions from kiké and kemp, but let's be honest...
if you have to rely on guys like them, you're likely fucked
and wtf is management's love with fucken baez?!!!
yeah, i know... he throws high 90's
let me know the next time he hits the location and/or doesn't give up a run
ugh, i could go on but whatev

Still think Baez would be an asset on another team as a closer. Put him on a mid tier team and he can rack up a ton of saves.
Sure he would blow some too, but he would be better than most closers out there that are not elite.
The closer role might allow him to develop some kind of attitude to make him effective.
As a setup man he sucks the wind out of any momentum. As a closer his long drawn out pitching style might be more effective.
Just not on the Dodgers, please.

    disagree...
if he can't handle being a set-up guy
his ineffectiveness will only be more exposed as a closer

    however...
agree he should be somewhere else

Baez would be great if used properly. And by properly, I mean never.

This is part of what bothers me about Seager. I'm not big on the whole "intangibles" thing...but he was marketed to us as a captain, lead by example, smart ballplayer. He makes more mental errors than even Puig does. Botches big plays. And he doesn't rise to the occasion when Turner is gone. Just not the MVP franchise guy we thought we had.

This guy had a 7 win season as a 23 year old shortstop. Wtf happened. Injuries playing a part too, unfortunately

He will turn it around if he really is that guy he was.

I’ve thought about this a lot recently but yeah, Seager has a ton of attributes that usually creates a negative perception of a young player but hasn’t for him.

Swings at the first pitch a TON, bad base runner, has some conflict with coaches, botches routine plays... none of those are too serious and he’s obviously still a good player but just interesting how those traits usually create a negative perception for a player and doesn’t for him. His offense masks a lot of it

    No excuses.
He's choked in every way possible.
With great/regular rest..without great/regular rest, needing to hold a small lead..needing to hold a large lead, to open LAD's post season in Game 1..to end LAD's post season and send them home late, with an ace #2 behind him..without an ace #2 behind him, etc.
    Just the facts.
He's a choker and I dare him to prove me wrong..I'd love it.
If Kershaw leaves LAD without a title, that's on him..Bumgarner just proved to be his daddy and Koufax was greater.
    The end.

He currently has a .347 OBP and honestly I'm surprised about that.

Yeah, and it's not some big secret. It starts and ends there. Nothing else. Seager's play has clearly dropped off since the elbow issues popped up. Other than this stretch where he's been trying to fight through whatever the elbow issue is, he's had an excellent start to his career. Who knows where his career goes from here..injuries happen. Shit happens.
