If it weren't for Cody's incredible defense, he wouldn't even be in the conversation for me.

Too many second half and post season failures. I know this is a regular season award, but my god how Cody can be so disappointing.

I wouldn’t trade him but he shouldn’t be the best hitter. I mean Muncy is the best hitter but he shouldn’t be second best either.

    • It is being said that the Padres FO and ownership were embarrassed to watch their team play the final month of the year. Andy Green suffered from it by being shown the door, but there are murmurs that there are frustrations with the teams stars as they are not acting like leaders. Which was expected when they were signed to a rebuilding team. Machado's numbers went way down in the final two months and showed a lack of fire(never seen that from him before). The feeling is that if they don't see a turnaround by some of these guys, they may start trying to ship them out. Yikes!
    • Arte Moreno came out and said that the Angles payroll is most certainly going up this year. The Angels are desperate for pitching and figure to pursue Gerrit Cole, where there is believed to be mutual interest. The Angels are not one pitcher away as their pitching staff is garbage, so it will be interesting to see how they go about this. The raise in payroll is rumored to be from a stipulation in the contract Joe Maddon.
    • The Nationals were apparently the runners up to sign Charlie Morton in the offseason and not by much. He elected to go to the Rays since they were close to home. Their goal was to have a rotation of Scherzer, Strasburg, Corbin, Morton and Sanchez. That would have been absolutely insane and makes me wish that we had an ownership group that cared that much to win that they were willing to spend whatever it took.... I have a feeling it is going to be hard to get Rendon and Strasburg out of DC.
    • Dodgers 1B coach George Lombard is interviewing for the coaching position with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

i've already accepted that they will sign no one of significance this offseason
it's not their mo to pursue free agents, and friedman has already stated that the offseason could be "hampered" by the number of upper mgmt people they've lost
so no cole, no rendon, no stras
oh the team will be rumored as "someone to watch" or "said to have deep interest" or perhaps even "meeting with", but rest assured nothing [of substance] will come to pass
that disingenuous huckster kasten loves to wax on about how much they care about fans
to him i say, go fuck yourself you greedy lying cunt
other than extending the netting, what have they done for the fans?
joe kelly?... aj pollock?... fuck you
if they truly cared about the fans, we all would be able to watch them on television
shameful that most dodger fans weren't able to watch vinny's last few telecasts
two world series appearances in a row and what exactly did they do to [try to] put the team over the top?...
enough of the prospect hoarding, get someone in here who is [already] proven and can help improve the team right now
if they do not sign a minimum of one of cole/rendon/stras (they won't), then i'm done spending a single fucken penny on this shit organization
no caps, no gear, no games -- nada
i'll still watch via streams and remain active here, but fuck investing anything on an organization who cares only about themselves
go dodgers, but fuck walter, kasten, friedman and roberts

    ^Bam.

I felt the frustration/anger in that post. You could very well argue we were one impact player away from a ship this year. Instead, we spent money on a guy that went 0 for in the playoffs with a million Ks and another dude that gave up a fucking grand slam in a do or die game.

The Dodgers are pretty much dead to me. Without DSP, I would have probably tried hard to avoid them all together.

Just making the playoffs is good enough for the Dodgers organization and nobody can convince me otherwise.
    "Dodgers linked to prized FA."
    *Prized FA signs elsewhere*

Sheep Dodgers fans: "Wow that is way too much money for him, the team that signed him is so stupid!!"

*Dodgers sign mediocre player that fails big time in the playoffs*

Glad everyone here is a realist. When I branch outside of DSP, I am shocked by the blind support for the organization. The type of people that yell go team and say how proud they are after a playoff loss. Sickening.

Does it make it worse that the one impact player they could've used has extensive experience/knowledge of the Nats, raked against all of the Nats' starters this season, and wanted to be a Dodger? They held 2 meetings with BH in Vegas in the winter..to do what, is what I'd like to know? Was it for the food? Mrs. Harper makes a mean dessert dish that Kasten loves? Fuckin bums.

They could've bought BH for this year, won the chip, and then sold him a couple years later for all we care. Boston is currently looking do the same thing with JD Martinez, but that's Boston where they give more than a fuck. Kroenke rolled into town at the right time, and is putting his money where his mouth is..quickly becoming LA's fave owner given this fuckery with Guggs and the follies of the Jeanie/Rambis coalition. TBH, Ballmer would probably be the fave among owners if the Clippers weren't the Clippers

    • The Red Sox have signed a new Pres of Baseball Ops and that is Chaim Bloom. He was supposedly the most sought after AGM in the league and behind A LOT of the success we have seen out of the Rays in recent years. He is called Andrew Friedman 2.0. Some early speculation is that the Red Sox are probably no longer considering moving Mookie Betts and will try to make moves elsewhere to reduce payroll.
    • There is now a solid stream of reports coming out after multiple disastrous press releases and news conferences that this incident with the Astros is not solely a one instance occurrence. One report from a former FO person was that it is an extremely toxic environment and this is what they are breeding in there. As I said earlier, they really will do anything to win and they do not care what terrible past or present a player has as they just care about winning. I know a lot of people on here and around the league like the "win at all costs mentality", but at some point a line needs to be drawn in the sport. Reminder, they had a split FO on whether or not to sign an admitted sexual assaulter of a CHILD. There is belief that after the season, MLB will investigate the club.
    • Pedro Moura reiterated today that the Dodgers FO was not super enthused about Seager's approach at the plate this season. He did not say that the club would move on from him, but he would not be surprised if he is shopped.

    • The Angels are hiring Mickey Calloway as their new pitching coach.

As far as the Astros doing whatever it takes to win, I wouldn't be surprised if someone writes a "tell all" book in 20 years laying out all the cheating that went on with this club. They've been accused of cheating multiple times and have wiggled their way out of it. They brag about how well they pick up on pitch-tipping, and you have to wonder why they are so good at it. Fuck the Astros, I've never seen players who looked like they knew what pitch was coming more than them. I'm not saying they have eyes all around the stadium and bugs in the dugout, but I'm also not saying they don't.

Since the Dodgers appear to be set on going into next season with Dave Roberts, I think the next best way to make a statement would be by trading Corey Seager - who is only a few years removed from being considered one of the top commodities in MLB and positioned to be the face of a franchise for the next decade. We have the piece to take over, plus Seager is a big domino that could lead to a big trade or help us shed bad payroll leading to a big FA.

he would absolutely be a different player if he could lay off that back foot slider
but like geena davis would say... can't him em, can't lay off em
pretty clear he's done zero work on trying to correct it, so i could see how the FO would be less than pleased
imo we've seen the best of corey seager
they should ship him the first opportunity they get
give ss to lux and move on

I thought it was Seager too. It looks like his number is 5, and the strikeout on one knee is classic Seager.
