Nightengale reporting that the Dodgers are being hyper aggressive and are working hard to make deals for Lindor/Clevinger and Betts. He makes it sound like they are floating Seager in the deals. Here we go guys, I hope you’re all sitting on the edge of your seats for what will end up being for no fucking reason!

so glad guggenheim is spending $100 million on stadium renovations and zero on improving the team
a belated holiday gift for fans?
    fuck you
would rather have a shithole stadium and a championship caliber team on the field
fuck mlb, fuck the all star game, fuck guggenheim
    • Club president Stan Kasten, equipped with a hard hat and reflective safety vest, monitored the dramatic renovation of soon-to-be 58-year-old Dodger Stadium. To coincide with hosting the MLB All-Star Game next July for the first time since 1980, Guggenheim Baseball Management is in the midst of an additional $100 million makeover at Chavez Ravine, having already spent $200 million on the venue since taking over the club in 2012. The ambitious current project is being crammed into the tight window of a five-month offseason, necessitating a virtual around-the-clock undertaking to present fans with a belated holiday gift for Opening Day on Thursday, March 26, against the Giants.

" Talking to a couple different American League managers, they told me Francisco Lindor is everything the Dodgers need. He’s so dynamic at the top of the order, a switch-hitter, power from both sides, can run. He’s a guy that definitely would be in the category of elite. He would just be such a difference-maker from what I’m being told. It’s one thing for us to say how great Lindor would be, but when other managers are raving about the impact he would have in the Dodgers lineup, that says a lot. " - Vassegh

Sounds like the force multiplier they need..and yet Lux is holding up trade talks. I imagine Lux is going to be really good, probably even great at some point, but will he be the latter over the next 2 seasons? Is he Juan Soto? Doubtful.

    my sentiments exactly
i'll take a proven elite commodity over a possible one any/every day
if lux is the deal breaker, ship him
i like may too, but if it gets us lindor and clevinger, do it
if they want seager too, great

Why can't those MF'ers just be honest and call it what it really implies and stop insulting us as fans?

They are not saying "NO Lux" to the other GM's.... What they are really saying is "NO Luxury Tax" to their investors!

And just imagine - if they were to somehow get Boston to take Seager for Betts, something tells me Guggs would just close up shop and run to ST with that and be happy instead of doubling up and sending Lux/May to CLE for Lindor and Clevinger. They could have Lindor/Betts 1-2 @ the top of the lineup and be a true force offensively. What's going to stop it from happening? Lux and David Price.

Yep..with the slew of oft-injured starting pitchers that this org has made rich over the years - they're going to let a couple/few years of David Price stand in the way of hoisting a WS trophy just as Boston did with an ailing Price. I mean, payroll already looks silly with 3 of the top 4 guys being severely overpaid and the other guy declining and in the last year of his deal..FFS throw another log on the fire for the next 2 or 3 years - who's counting @ this point? Just sign Homer Bailey for backup. Have a rotation of Buehler/Clevinger/Kershaw/Price/Bailey/Urias and move Maeda to the pen. Have Urias and Maeda pull double duty whenever needed to help Kersh/Price/Bailey get through the season and open a true 4 man competition for #4 in August/September. They can win with that.

Blue Jays showing interest in David Price
by George Miller | MLB Trade Rumors — 12 minutes ago

The Blue Jays and Red Sox are discussing a deal that would send veteran starter David Price to Toronto, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. While Rosenthal is quick to note that an official move isn’t close yet, it’s nonetheless notable that Price is in play for a Blue Jays team that has made abundantly clear its desire to upgrade the starting rotation.

The progress of the teams’ negotiations will hinge on Boston’s willingness to cover some portion of the remaining three years and $96MM on Price’s contract.

Price, of course, made brief stint with Toronto in 2015, when he was acquired from the Tigers at the trade deadline. Of course, remnants from that 2015 team are few and far between, with a new front office and manager in place, as well as a completely refreshed core of youthful position players.

The Jays have been frequently linked to free-agent southpaw Hyun-Jin Ryu, who looks like the last remaining top-flight starter on the market. However, with Bob Nightengale of USA Today reporting that as many as seven teams are in the running for Ryu’s services, there’s a very real possibility that Toronto will strike out on that front and be forced to pivot to alternate means of improving the rotation.

Talk about shit that makes absolutely no sense at all. Unless Boston is sending a prospect or two along with Price. Young team like Toronto, that FO can't be that damn desperate in a division as strong as theirs. They're about to start operating like the Padres?

And 7 teams in on Ryu? He's the last of the top flight pitchers available? He can't get a 4th year? Somebody is going to win his services one way or another.

This is either BS from Nightengale or stupid PR damage control from the FO.

    It just ain’t happening.

Giants, Tony Watson reach new deal
by Dylan A. Chase | MLB Trade Rumors — 21 minutes ago

December 22: As it turns out, Watson actually didn’t exercise his player option; rather, he and the Giants negotiated a new deal that will pay him $3MM in 2020, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. He’ll still have the chance to earn $4MM worth of incentives, bringing his potential 2020 earnings to a total of $7MM.

November 2: Giants reliever Tony Watson has exercised his player option for 2020 with San Francisco, according to Kerry Crowley of Bay Area News Group (link).

Watson arrived in San Fran in 2018 via a modest two-year, heavily incentivized deal that promised him a combined $6.5MM over the first two years of the deal, with a 2020 option attached. Watson’s option for 2020 is guaranteed at $2.5MM, and Bob Nightengale of USA Today relays that Watson will have the opportunity to earn $7.5MM total in 2020 via incentives (link); At the time of the deal’s signing, it was reported that Watson had the ability to earn $14MM over two years or $21MM for three years, depending on escalators and performance bonuses.

Regardless of the particularities of his salary structure, this offseason would have likely marked an inopportune time for the 34-year-old Watson to hit the open market. 2019 marked the lefty’s first season pitching to an ERA in excess of 4.00, and he also logged some of the lowest strikeout totals (6.83 K/9) of his career in the process. Worse yet, a broken wrist ended his season prematurely in early September.

Of course, between 2013 and 2018 Watson was one of the game’s most reliable southpaw bullpen arms, recording a 2.46 ERA in 424.2 innings with the Pirates and the Dodgers. Now, the Boras client can suit up for San Francisco for one more go-around in 2020 in hopes of recapturing that old form and reentering the market again in advance of the 2021 season.

If we get two Lindor-level seasons from Lux, we will be jumping up and down at how lucky we are. Why not just headline a package with Lux and guarantee those two years? Same with May and Clevinger.

Everything you read about Lindor, nobody has a bad word to say about him. Workaholic, teammates enjoy being around him, mature face of the franchise type that Guggs can be proud to have out front. Everything they wanted Puig to be, Lindor is and has been since making it to the bigs.

We've had the shitty series against the Nats happen..the Astros and their scandal happen..Dodgers just owe us something worth celebrating. And I don't mean any renovations to the stadium. Wanna renovate something? Try this fucking team.

What a kick ass top of the order though.
Talk about the old Dodger way.
Get on base, steal a base, move the runner, sacrifice, well placed bunts, and power to boot.
    Villar would be cheap too.
    Do it Mitch!
