    • The Dodgers have released right-handed pitcher JT Chargois in order to facilitate his signing with a team in Japan’s NPB, according to Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times desire of becoming a transexual drag queen.

I've been told that fans are the only ones that look at it that way and FO's do not really care where they are in the rankings, but I think there has to be more to it since the Dodgers continually get their elite guys targeted in these talks when other teams surrender far weaker packages. One thing that has been floated in the past is that other FO's were wary when it came to prospects that we were willing to offer up in trades. Until recently, the guys we moved were not panning out, while the no-go's became stars. It was apparently a big red flag in negotiations, but now some of those prospects are starting to shine. Alvarez is a legit beast, Montas was looking like an ace before he was popped, Cotton was looking like a solid mid rotation starter before his injury, Cruz has become a very intriguing top prospect and Calhoun started to mash a bit. This definitely helps the club out in the eyes of other franchises, but they do know that we are probably one of the top 2 or 3 developmental orgs in the game and if we are ready to move on from a guy, there could still be something wrong.

Montas was traded because he was a risk. That proved right. Cotton was a pan flash in each league until the leagues caught up to him and forced him to pitch. Those two should be added to your argument that teams are scared to trade with the Dodgers.
I think you make a great observation.

I was more pointing out that the prospects they traded had done nothing which was reportedly becoming a red flag to teams. Cotton and Montas while being risks(as are all prospects) were also projected big leaguers when traded. So them finally doing something at the big league level does potentially help the Dodgers FO as they could point to these successes of traded prospects as reasons to believe that they're willing to trade spects that have impact upside. Cotton getting hurt and then never really bouncing back doesn't impact the club, cause shit happens and teams realize that pitchers are injury risks. Same could be said for Montas, while yes he was nailed for steroids, he still has the potential to be very good. When he was traded, he was one of the Dodgers top prospects, so him panning out would be beneficial to some degree.

or...... Perhaps it's put out there in the inner circles (where it matters) who they won't trade no matter what and everything we've been hearing about non-deals due to high demands has been bullshit to keep the lemmings coming to games to watch the team fall flat year after year. Hey, it's been working.

When a big time player gets traded as a non-rental, the top prospects go. Look at Sale for Moncada for example.

i was okay with letting ryu walk
but why even make an offer when there's no chance in hell he'd accept?
of course... so kasten can tell the fans "hey, we tried"
    fuck you

Per Dylan Hernandez of the L.A. Times:
A person close to the situation said the Dodgers were open to offering Ryu a four-year contract,
but with a considerably lower average annual value than he received from the Blue Jays.
