Agree that Mookie and Belli can sure go get 'em. No doubt. But including Pollock in with them as the best OF D in the NL, or maybe MLB, is a square peg in a round hole. What I saw last season...Pollock is as average as it gets.

    Joc vs. RHP .252/ .349/ .571/ .920/ 137 wRC+ (2019)
    Kike vs LHP .266/.350/.478/.829/ 123 wRC+ (career)

I don't see how breaking up a lethal tandem like that makes sense.
Then again, they misused Kike all of last season, holding on to the hope he could become an every day 2Bman for too long.

There needs to be something else at play

Belli will be the Kelly Leake of the Dodgers, he'll take everything lol. May see Kike platooning with AJ. Rengifo is only an infielder to my knowledge.

Regardless of Kike and Joc's splits, who would you rather take the chance on to re-sign? Betts or Joc? If any money could be held in your pocket for Betts, I'd keep it.

I think you're right. IF only.
I would rather have kept Joc and platoon him than go with the over rated Pollock. Pollock not only fragility in a uniform, he was nauseatingly bad in post season.
One of the FO missteps which will fade into the shadows, disappearing in the bright light of Betts/Price.

Agreed. MGT knows that in FA Joc is gona get more money from an AL team and MGT doesn't want to match that for an overpay of a platoon player. Good call getting something for him now.

Hernandez has not been close to that in a couple years. Pollock had a .150 higher OPS over him against lefties making the Pollock/Pederson platoon the elite player combo.

It's not between Joc and Betts, though. They gave Pollock what...55 million. ?
They're going to be paying ( if they want them) Bellinger, Buehler, and Seager soon which should cost a fair amount, too. Just a wee bit, anyway.
What do they do there ?

Fair enough. More times than not a FA going to a new team has a much better 2nd year than the 1st. HOPING AJ is that guy. Not betting my life on it but I'm HOPING.

I think the logic is if we keep Mookie and Seager it’ll cost us 500 million dollars, so 60 million for Joc wasn’t gonna happen anyway. You could counter that you’d rather have one year of Joc than 5 of Rengifo and there’s definitely an argument for that, but I think they think between Pollock, Taylor, Kiké and Beaty you can recreate 85% of Joc’s production.

And I guess we did get a prospect instead of letting Joc just walk. Who knows what may happen there.

Just to stir the pot... in December the Angels and Indians were discussing a possible trade that would send Kluber to the Angels, and one of the players the Indians were interested in was Luis Rengifo.

Whether shit pans out or not. No doubt there is dialog and Rengifo was a target for a reason.
