Ok, so with the new parameters, the Dodgers currently sit about $13M over with Joc and Ross back in the fold and money going to Minny for Maeda. Some names to watch now

    Joc: Roughly $8M AAV
    Ross: Roughly $2.5M AAV
    Hernandez: $5.9M AAV
    Pollock: $12M AAV

Other than that, there are not many options to get under the tax and the club in all likelihood going to need to add a high caliber starting pitcher at some point. They may realize that they are not getting under and just punt it.

Hold on. How did the revised Twins, Red Sox, Dodgers deal change the parameters for the Angels/Joc deal? This does make sense.

It doesn’t look like the revised deal would have even affected the Angels deal. Does Moreno think they should have gotten something like Downs too? Que pasa?

Also, why keep Joc? I thought Joc was already bad mouthing the Dodgers during the original deal? What the hell?

We really need to ship Joc. Do you all think a Joc package to Cleveland may net us either Lindor or a Clevinger?

I really don't think Pollock has any trade value, not unless MGT attaches a prospect with him. Even then the return would not be great. That was not a wise contract to sign, but they did it and we are stuck for the next 4 years. Best bet is to keep Pollock and hope he stays healthy for 2/3 of the year. Conversely, Joc's value is probably at the highest it will be, add in the fact that MGT will probably not want to give him big bucks in FA next year, which leads us to trade him now while he has some value.

Joc was bad mouthing us? I haven't heard that anywhere.

Dodgers don't give out no trade clauses, so the only way to have one is if you are traded to the Dodgers with one or you gain one via 10/5 rights.

The new decade brings a full awareness that technologies can be used to maximum effect, i.e. World Series Championships...and now, if pummeled negatively by sportswriters/ fans/talking heads on bb commentary shows, you can weasel out of "done deal" trades by whatever creative, filthy lies or spin you can come up with.
The promise of a creative spike in dishonesty and low life behavior is nigh, and the tingle of "who can top that" is crackling everywhere.
    Are you not entertained?

No way a soon-to-be FA platoon outfielder will be the headliner of a package going to Cleveland for Lindor and Clevinger. They'll want high floor specs.

I have been thinking about the same thing. The parameters changed in that we instead traded AWAY a top MIF prospect(we were getting one back from the Angels), we acquired top a reliever with starter upside(we traded the reverse to the Angels), we acquired a lefty corner OF'er that mashes while being meh on defense(instead of trading one to the Angels) and we traded away a backup catching prospect that can play multiple positions(instead of acquiring one we were rumored to get in the Angels deal). We did like everything that made sense for that deal to go through and now it doesn't work. just really strange.

I know a lot of people like the bats coming up in the M's system. They won't blow anyone away due to their pitching, but their offense could be interesting at least.

I know people on this board hated the deal, but it was funny how many people thought it was a steal for the Dodgers, they were just giving us shit since it wasn't Harper. We all hate him, but his upside is still that of a middle of the order impact bat, but the dude just can't stay healthy. IF he is healthy, our lineup will be insane.

Need Lindor @ SS and Clevinger @ #2 behind Buehler. Didn't give a damn how they did it before getting Betts - and don't give a damn how they do it after having landed Betts. Strap Pollock and Jansen to their backs, and shoot Lux and May out of a cannon - straight to Cleveland.

Then send Seager to Cincy for whatever's clever from their farm. Friedman needs to keep stirring this shit. Give Betts a little help from an elite player in his prime. Doubt the Cubbies would send Bryant over and he doesn't have a position, anyway, so fuck him and that AL life. Get Lindor. He's made to succeed in the NL

Yeah, I have no idea what happened with the Angels deal. Like I said, the biggest payroll change was the arbitration stuff - but does that mean they weren’t going to sign Muncy and Taylor to multi-year deals and then changed their mind once the Betts deal hit snags? That just seems unlikely.

With the original deals we were under, but barely, which would have caused problems at the trade deadline. Remember, calling up players while others are on the IL always adds another 2-3 million to the payroll

In the end, keeping Joc and Strip would be great. I hope we do.

If they trade Joc to get under the tax and then let Mookie walk I hope they all burn in hell

Apparently he and his reps were upset about the way his arb was handled, but it is odd. The Dodgers hired a 3rd party to represent them as not to tarnish the relationship they had with Joc and yet they still got slammed for that. I thought it a good choice by the org since there are more than a couple of Arb horror stories.

I really didn't want Harper, IMO he is overrated, but on the flip side I really wanted Stanton......so goes to show what I know. Yeah, I agree, if healthy Pollock will rake. So from a business standpoint, you send Joc at the height of his value and keep Pollock in hopes he stays healthy and either produces or becomes trade bait.

Be mad at MLB for refusing to delay the arb hearing. Not sure how that is the Dodgers fault.
