They have to shorten the season if they are going to expand the playoffs. 154 game season. I’d say 6 teams make the playoffs, and do an NFL format. 2 teams get a first round bye, have best of 3 at one park, then the LDS and LCS series are both best of 7. Keep interleague play because I think it’s special to be able to see all teams in your ballpark at some point - not a big deal when a Red Sox fan in SoCal can just go to Anaheim... but for a Red Sox fan in Denver it’s a nice occurance. I also like the unbalanced schedule, but maybe they can tinker it a bit so it’s not so division heavy.

162 games (or even 154) is ridiculous when you are letting half the league in the playoffs. But there is some historical context to support 154, so let’s do it.

Maybe you are better off just getting a T1 line directly into your house.
    Would be cheaper.
I had my rate at 14.99 from Adelphia when nobody else lived on the mountain.
They had to drop a cable line just for me so I got the full bandwidth that normally belongs to a few city blocks. Of course now there are houses down and around and some even up higher than me. And they completely destroyed my forest and leveled my favorite hill.
Ugh, thats another story. Suffice to say that lots of other people are connected to my cable line now. At least they paying more than me :D
The construction crews are always stealing my water and power though.

When Adelphia got bought out they tried to switch me to the new plans and I kept fighting it.
But I messed up one time when I was ill and they suckered me into a 'better' plan that was just 5 bucks more.
Everytime there has been ownership change they try to change my plan but im like fuck you im getting a satellite and they chill.
Of course im much more graceful in person :D
T1 is fiber but an older tech that does not carry as much bandwidth as what you are getting into your house through a modem.
But you don't need all that. Its just overhead. One of the few things I learned in college.
Lets say you have 100 measures of theoretical bandwidth available.
You are sharing that with your block. And there are highs and lows during prime times.
Lets say you pay 100 bucks for that.
You can connect 100 devices to that if you want.
But each has to call the modem first.
And if they are all making calls at the same time then none of your devices will have it all.
You can have 100 percent of the power going to one of your devices or split it between two or 10 etc...
But each device will only receive what the modem can handle at a time.
And as you add devices the quality may suffer, specially during prime times.
With a T1 you may only have 24 theoretical measures of bandwidth.
Each measure is reserved as its own line and is essentially partitioned.
If you set that 1 measure per device and you have 24 devices then each of those devices has its own carpool lane directly into the source.
    Bypassing modem restrictions.

Businesses used this for maximizing phone lines or to have dedicated internet connections that never fluctuate in performance.
They are set at a bandwidth level cap that the end user of that device will never reach.
Each device gets the same kind of love, up to 24 devices at a time.
These things used to cost hundreds of dollars a month in the 90s and lot more to set up.
Now probably 40 bucks with zero setup fees.
So you are paying 40 bucks for 24 connections of 1GB each instead of 100 bucks for 100 GB to use as you please.
The 100 GB deal looks so much better on paper.
But you never gonna need all that data at one time on one device.
As long as you dont have more than 24 devices going at one time you are golden with the T1.
I used to daydream at the ads for T1 lines until I got a cable line all to myself.
Shit my internet was coming in so strong that It kept frying my equipment and giving me shocks daily.
They sent a tech in who put in a limiter so my internet would not be so strong.
Electricity can be gleamed off telecommunications wires.... ok im talking too much again and its about time to change the foil lining inside my hat.
There is a lot of truth out there.
But we are sold something else.
    You can find it though.
    Just gotta ask a friend.

Raley can platoon with Beaty at 1B as he has a minor league history of mashing vs lefties if they choose to play Muncy at 2B and keep Lux on the bench.
Or maybe even with Joc in LF if he can still move like when he was with the Dodgers system.

    LF: Joc/Pollock
    RF: Mookie
    3B: Turner
    2B: Muncy
    CF: Bellinger
    SS: Seager
    C: Smith/Ruiz
    1B: Beaty/Raley

Bench: Pollock, Raley, Ruiz, Taylor, Lux
Rios, Kike and maybe Barnes are on the bubble.

At least winning the pennant will be a big deal again.
But they should only apply this to the AL.
The AL can be new coke.
    NL can stay classic.

I really liked the two separate leagues as well. Unique to baseball and made the World series far more interesting.

Are they really expanding the playoffs much though?
The way it looks to me the only team that would theoretically play a game or two more than any other team would be if one of the bottom tier wild card teams lost every other game but always won the clincher so they kept advancing until they won the world series in 7 games.
That team may have to play past the current maximum amount of playoff games a team could theoretically play.
    But not by much.
While more teams will play more games by virtue of no 1 game series and the extra wildcard series... in reality few of these extreme situations will ever play out. And if it does nobody will care that they played an extra game or 3 because they won the world series and they did it as huge underdogs.
That story would be strong enough to overshadow.
Its actually a real smart move because its going to build a lot of anticipation and fan interest.

It's the off-season so it's easy to get excited by any news.
After letting it sit for a while, I hate this playoff proposal.
It's really gimmicky and it's a slippery slope.

I am always interested in realignment and playoff ideas but this one isn't it.

Lux will either be starting at 2B in MLB or starting in AAA. Dude isn't going to come off the bench.
Ruiz will be in the minors, certainly.

Thanks for reminding me Barnes exists, though. Mondays are the worst

The issue was that he witnessed it and most importantly the Dodgers never notified MLB offices and Gabe Kapler tried to mediate it. It was and is a organizational issue.

With all the multi level shit going on, and the deal that coulda woulda shoulda been made, and the deals that were, it sure occurs to me, circuitously or immediately, that Lux better be goddam good. He really needs to live up to those expectations and potential.
Or he can probably get work as the new Ryan Phillipe as the real one ages, but if all the clamor for him was true, we might have a really good player/players without all the recent bullshit. And for more than a year.
They wouldn't move Verdugo either, till now, but I guess if it helps you get Mookie, you move him on like a pederastic priest.

Absolutely along with a host of other entities. This is the era of let’s look back and see what you did wrong years ago and how you should correct it now.

Yes, it is literally adding a whole new round to the playoffs. It’s the definition of playoff expansion. And baseball is more of a crapshoot than any other sport, so a 3-game series is problematic - a 95+ win team getting rolled in the first round by an 82 win team will be an annual thing, and a 100+ win team getting rolled in the first round will happen every other year or so. A lot of great teams will become footnotes in this format.
