He has to resign if he won't asterisk the asterisks.
If he continues to protect the asters his job will be at risk.

Yeah, it's a little surprising that we haven't heard from other owners, yet. Maybe, like the commish, they're hoping it dies away because the longer it lives (and grows), the greater effect it could theoretically have on their bottom lines. But at some point, they may see that the best course of action would be to put pressure on Manfred to vacate it (... or step down). He may not want to set precedence on caving to players, but if enough players, media, general public, and then a few owners speak up, he may have no choice.

Personally, I'd love to see that happen, and then we could all move on. I don't want to see beanball wars, individual player suspensions, or even any talk of the Dodgers defaulting into a WS win. Just vacate the damn thing and let's get on with 2020. Altuve can even keep his trophy, for all I care.

Could see owners just pulling the plug on Manfred and using him as the fall guy in this since he's a certified villain now. Do that and move on. Have to imagine that owners aren't big fans of caving to players either, and don't want to get that ball rolling. Players obviously do enough already.

Owners have more control over the media..can see those 2 entities getting together and just understanding that for everybody's best interest - stfu. And beanball wars are definitely not the way. Especially, given all the money that guys are making now. You've got kids at the game, kids watching at home..bad idea to have guys throwing 90+ MPH projectiles at one another - or worse..

We gonna have a lot of blind umpires at asterisks games.
The umps like to be center stage.
They wont be sitting this one out.
Since fredo says you cant bean them then just allow pitchers to go as inside as they want in the strike zone.
No need to hit them if the refs are not calling the inside ball on you.
Of course since they are giving you so much leeway one or two balls might happen get away from you and give the guy a sore elbow or knee.

Red Dick can eat my shite. We traded for him, he crapped his pants and did nothing, went to the Asterisks and magically started to play decent, then “wins” a WS....now thinking his crap don’t stink. And he crapped all over LA and the Dodgers.

He is my enemy number 1

The players have no say on whether Manfred is fired or not. The owners have all the power there and he is apparently liked by them for the most part. Plus with a new CBA coming up, there is supposedly no talks to move on from him either. He tried to hide this, then when it came out he was too soft with his punishment. He completely misfired about how reactions would be and now he (and apparently fans that haven't been paying attention for like... ever to this game) is worried that the players are going to do what they have always done and police themselves. He has one way of getting ahead of this now and that is vacating the title as that would probably settle some of the bloodlust, while each member that received a playoff share should have to return that fund into an account for retired players. However, now this piece of shit with his threats has only rewarded the Asterisks even more as he has effectively taken away the inside corner against them. Baseball is getting in their own way AGAIN and at this point the only winners out of this will be the 2017 Asterisks and the 2020 Asterisks.

    • Yikes.... Dodgers 2018 1st round pick J.T. Ginn had to be shut down again after having to do the same at the end of 2019. People were talking about a top 5-10 pick midway through last year before shoulder discomfort took him down. Took off the Fall and Winter to recover, but saw his once mid 90's velo drop down to 90-92. Kiley McDaniel is reporting that scouts fear the worst for him. Ginn turned down a Dodgers offer to reportedly live out his dream of playing for the MSU Bulldogs. He joins Kyle Funkhouser as recent Dodgers first round picks to spur a Dodgers offer and see steep decline in value after the fact. The club used the comp pick this year to sign Michael Busch.
    • May and Nelson will be shutdown for a couple more days to deal with minor ailments.
    • Roberts said that the plan for Nelson is to try him as a starter, but believe he could be a Brandon Morrowesque reliever if he doesn't make the rotation.
    • Bill Plunkett has a story out about Alex Wood. Sounds like he is penciled in to be the Dodgers #5 starter. He had an ablation procedure in the offseason to deal with a nerve issue in his back that appears to have helped and he is fully recovered from while feeling the best he has since 2017. He also thinks that working with Driveline was a huge help to him and we will see a jump in performance.
    • Yadier Alvarez threw a bullpen today in camp after a surprise return last week. He admitted that he acted inappropriately and not with respect to the organization, but has gotten himself back on course with the help of former players and a psychologist. He also said that he worked very hard this offseason to get back here. This kid still has the best arm in the system, so it would be awesome to see him get right.

Can remember watching him in the future's game 2 or 3 years ago and thinking - yes.

I think he is a reliever only at this point in his career, which is a major bummer, but still could work really well for us with the young starters we have coming up. A Graterol/Alvarez duo chucking 100 MPH+ would be a lot of fun to watch.
