Yanks didn't win it last year but they stole the ace from the team that beat them. That's pretty huge. Severino lost his lone start vs **Houston** in the ALCS and has been god awful in the playoffs for them.

I am all for the demise of the Yankees as they are the only team in baseball that I feel is better than us but I think they still coast to an AL east title and remain the AL favorites. I wouldn't be sad if this is the first of many injuries though

Fuck winning fair after what happened to us. I hope every contender suffers several injuries except us

Hasn't Takana been amazing in the postseason for them?

I hope you guys are right....I know the Dodgers have to get through the NL but the Yanks are the only team I fear

Rosenthal is reporting that the D'Backs have been exploring potential short term homes in the event that their stadium issue is not resolved and it falls into disrepair. Vancouver is being viewed as a viable candidate for the team which I would guess is also a tryout for a market that could potentially be a home for a new team after expansion. I have been saying that the Pacific Northwest needs a second team up there, but this was not the market I was expecting. He also mentions that if they are not able to get a stadium deal at all, the club has explored the possibility of relocating to Las Vegas.

I wish they would go ahead and get things to 32 teams already and then start working on the plans to get us to 36. There is a new age coming in baseball with careers starting sooner and vets washing out before they used to at current, not to mention the eventual universal DH. I would not be shocked if what we see next are the vets finding better ways to prolong their careers and the league dealing with a glut of MLB caliber players having to go overseas, retire early or seeing a more stacked field in AAA. This could also be a way to save MiLB baseball while knocking out short-season ball in the process as the teams being added could potentially just take over the clubs that were getting kicked out of MiLB in the long term plan. There would be some off balance in MiLB ball for a couple of years, but at least we would not see towns left hanging.

MLB has been painfully reactive and not proactive over the course of the last 20 years. We have been talking expansion for over 10 years and in the process, MLB completely missed the boat on regional network contracts that could have propelled the expansion teams to strong starts. Take advantage of a good economy and get some more pro clubs out there for gods sake. Then when you have 36 clubs, a 14 team playoff no longer seems so asinine.

Yes, he certainly has, but he also has not been great the last couple years in the regular season and has been creeping in the wrong direction. At some point that will catch up to him in the postseason.

    Some not so great news:
    • Dustin May has continued to experience soreness in his side and has been shut down. Early rumblings were that he was not expected to be on the OD roster anyway, but it would not be awesome for him to miss all of spring. A longer than expected injury and time in MiLB could get the club an extra year of control.
    • Joc Pederson has also been shut down after continued soreness in his side as well.
Oblique issues are not great, so hopefully these are not major and have not been tweaked too bad.

Joc's side soreness has been narrowed down to a thorn in it.

    • Cody Thomas hit another absolute bomb yesterday and is starting to draw some comparisons to another Dodgers Cody. Before you get too excited, remember we are in week two of ST games and this guy is facing some lower end pitchers. Thomas was a big breakout candidate going into last season, then fell pretty hard in AA at an advanced age. One positive was that he was able to bring his strikeouts down year over year, but they were still at a close to 28% clip. He has always had power, but it has never materialized to the level in games that some thought was possible from the 6'4" Oklahoma draftee. He has struggled mightily vs lefties outside of his intriguing 2018 which could also be a cause for concern going forward for an organization that is trying to creep away from platoon players. He and Peters drew a lot of similarities in that they were big, athletic dudes, but Peters has pulled away in recent years. The swing still looks a little long for my taste, but he has had a hell of an introduction with the club.
    • Some of the Dodgers pitching prospects that are expected to be heading to the pen have been VERY impressive in the early going with Mitch White, Dennis Santana and Marshall Kasowski looking like potential forces. Something that is interesting is that Roberts mentioned that the plans for Santana and White are still to utilize them as starters, but that may be to have them continuing to work on their secondaries. It is a massive IF for White and Santana in IF they can get right and stay healthy, but both have upsides of #2 pitchers and even then some for White. They could get half a season of starts, before the club drops them to the pen for second half/playoff impact with the big club. As for Kasowski, he is a reliever through and through. If you have watched his appearances, he has been using more breaking pitches than are usually associated with him and it is working. He has a 70-80 grade fastball that clocks in all over the 90's with extreme deception. His issues are control and secondaries, but getting ANY of his secondaries to even a 50 grade could make him a very dangerous reliever. He has been a strikeout machine while using his FB about 80% of the time, but being able to mix things up more, could throw him into back end territory.
    • Yadier Alvarez will be on the bump tomorrow. The former top prospect is trying to make a comeback after falling out of favor with the organization with his bad attitude and inability to accept advice. A couple of things I have seen is that the club may still try him as a starter and that his FB has still been very impressive in bullpen sessions. Should interesting to watch, but he also on the restricted list, so somebody will have to go in the days ahead if they decide to add him back to the roster or risk losing him for nothing and yes someone will ABSOLUTELY take him and his 80 grade fastball. The problem is that there are not many great options to drop.
    • Keibert Ruiz is expected to get some AB's today before starting on Saturday. Kershaw has his debut tomorrow with Buehler on Saturday. All signs are pointing towards another Kershaw OD start.
    • Passan reported last night that expectations are a wave of multi-year contracts being announced in the days/weeks leading up to Opening Day. Teams were not specified, but a number of young players and clubs are looking at options that give the players a bit more money now for a less of a hit later and more security in the event something happens. Guys like Lux, Buehler and Will Smith could all be players to watch with our org.

Ehh, I am not all that worried about Nelson. They don't really need him until later anyway. Just get healthy and he may be better served for the club out of the pen.

Not sure if anyone caught the highlights of Gonsolin, but he looked REALLY good.

was surprised so many were casually mentioning him as an easy trade mark

Gonsolin looked really good wondering if they still want to use him in the bullpen. My opinion is to make him a starter to finally test him to see what we got.

I really hate when I hear any injury associated with a young pitcher like May.
