Honestly, if that celebration knocked his arm out of the socket, then it was only a matter of time until it happened. It seemed like bad timing, but in the end everything worked out and he had the chance to have it repaired in the offseason.

Big picture, I'm worried about Cody longterm any way. So much of his game relies on him being an athletic freak, so when he ages past his prime I see a sharp decline coming. I'm going to live it up for now. Maybe he will always be a freak.

i thought it was an ongoing issue of sorts resulting initially from sort of dive play at first base?
anyway let's try to remain optimistic
maybe it puts a hitch in his swing that makes going after that low inside slider painful

Hoping because it is his right shoulder and he’s left handed that it won’t affect his swing. It might limit his range in the outfield though.

I know it’s super fucking greedy and JT will go down in Dodger lore forever but if Friedman can pull off an Arenado trade I’d lose my mind.

If not though JT coming back on a 2 year deal or something is a pretty sweet fallback.

I'm just not interested. I've soured on Arenado. Big contract, bad season, questions about Coors, problems with management, having to trade assets and he's no longer young.

I'm also not interested in Arenado. Big contract that is a bigger luxury tax hit than Mookie Betts, plus he has an opt out after 2021 so it's up in the air if he's a rental or not. His OPS is nearly .200 points higher at Coors. Not just problems with management, but he had problems with his teammates this year. Why help a division rival out of a crippling contract? Plus he comes with all the same payroll problems we've discussed with Lindor.

Dodgers MiLB affiliates for 2021 have been announced and there are some changes.
OKC and Tulsa remain, but HiA will now be Spokane and Rancho is moving down to LoA. Fine with me as the MWL fucking sucked for weather and was a pitcher haven, while Ogden and the Pioneer league is just garbage since it’s a hitters paradise. While the Cal league is more hitter friendly, Rancho is considered more neutral. I don’t know much about Spokane, but I’d also assume it’s a more neutral/pitcher friendly environment due to the weather up there.

J.P. Morosi from MLB.com is reporting this morning that according to his sources, the Dodgers have maintained interest in acquiring Rockies star 3B Nolan Arenado this offseason. One of their speculations for this is the Dodgers likely have not gained much traction with Scott Boras in extension talks for Corey Seager. While this would be fun to see, whether what y’all are saying above me, it’s incredibly unlikely for a deal to get done. The Rockies and Colorado as a whole for that matter, loathe Los Angeles sports teams and trading a star to one is considered a heinous/unforgivable act in the eyes of many fans here. The only team that’s really safe from this is a Rams organization that doesn’t play in the same league.

to be fair to Nolan, most of his problems have been with his teams not being good enough which I don’t blame him. The Rockies stink and never took steps forward when they had a chance to make some actual playoff noise. They could’ve won a division in 2018 if their management gave a damn!
His contract is ugly but the Rockies are super desperate to spend less. Maybe it’s not a “valuable” contract but he’s a damn good player. Especially if you have the DH next year, throwing out a lineup with him, wow. It’s also very very important for the Dodgers to have good defense to go along with their good defensive positioning because their pitching relies on it

I trust Friedman wouldn’t do like a stupid deal for him; Nolan is a luxury and he’s treat it that way. It’s a long shot but damn would it be pretty cool

I also trust Friedman not to make stupid moves, and I certainly won't cry if Arenado is wearing blue but I do have concerns. I don't care about Arenado's feuds with management much, I'm more concerned with it looking like his teammates didn't like him in the clubhouse last year. Sure, winning might fix that, but man...

Friedman isn't one who is going to pay a division-rival premium, and I honestly don't see a deal working for Arenado unless the prospect package is super light, the Rockies pick up a chunk of Arenado's contract, or some combination of both.

Eh being liked isn't as important as being respected. So long as Arenado isn't a clown, he's welcome. If he needs his space..give him his space. Many championship teams have had that star who needed his space. Not everybody wants to bump dicks with Kike after a homer.

Respect his work ethic day in and day out, his effort on game day and the game check he receives. Do that and things would be fine. Highlighted the many assholes that have won big in sports the other day. Not that Arenado's an asshole..just doesn't disqualify him if he is. He comes to LAD and helps them win titles he'll be our asshole

Wow, according to Casey Stern their own Jim Bowden with what he is hearing where talks are, said he feels that it is not an if with Arenado at this point, but when. He said he be surprised if Arenado was not a Dodger by Christmas. Morosi reiterated on TV this morning that the Dodgers are very much working to get Arenado. I personally think this is a bad sign for Seager talks.

They just played the sound bite. His wording was that his sources within the Dodgers are saying they and the Rockies are in fact making progress on deal that would send Nolan Arenado to the Dodgers. Arenado has apparently told the Rockies that he will opt out if he is not traded. The Dodgers only hold up at this point is that they want Arenado to waive his opt-out.

Wouldn't Arenado opting out be welcomed by the Rockies? Of course, then they lose any potential prospects, but one would have to imagine that they're going to have to eat part of the contract if they get back any prospects of value. In any case, the Dodgers have all the leverage here - I hope they fully work that to their advantage. I'm with BlueMouse on this - I'm not hoping we swing a deal, but if it happens, that's fine. I would rather Corey remain a Dodger beyond next year though, so hopefully this doesn't interfere. Damn Boras... every time...

We've been here before. We'll see. Like I've been saying for weeks in regards to Lindor..window is open so attack. Opportunities to slam home a dynasty don't come along often. Gotta seize the day and the chance to be legendary. $ will work itself out in the long run and in the present AF will do his valuation thing. Lindor's great, but Arenado works too

That being said, all this stuff could be being leaked to put pressure on Seager to take a reasonable deal. One can only hope that AF isn't about to give Seager some outrageous contract 1 calendar year after shopping him in trade talks

Waive his NTC for the remainder of his contract? Or waive his NTC just so the Dodgers can trade for him? I assume the later isn't an issue.

I am going to jump out not individually respond to a lot of the Arenado stuff I am seeing to point out a couple of things about the player:
    • Reports on his attitude are in regards to his feelings towards the Rockies ownership and FO. He re-signed when it looked like the Rockies were about to take a leap forward and was told that they would compete around him. Instead the owner tightened the purse strings and the club had one of the most laughably bad offseasons in recent memory. They have done nothing to fill in the roster around he, Story and Blackmon over the last 2 years and used the Dodgers "lack of dealings" as a reason to believe in the system. The Rockies, unlike the Dodgers have one of the worst MiLB systems in the game.
    • There have not been reports of him being a bad teammate. People have said this, but that is said to not be true at all and it is felt that cause he does not like the cheapness of the FO, that he is not a good teammate. That is said to not be correct. Where he is not a good teammate is said to be that he is not a good leader. He is not a clubhouse guy that is going to pick you up when you are down or take you aside and tell you what you are doing wrong. That is just not the kind of guy that he is and that's a problem with the Rockies as he, Blackmon and Story are all quiet guys that let their games speak. There was a quote by Kevin Pillar that was taken out of context when he said something like "with Nolan out of the lineup we all kind of relaxed a bit." If you listened to the whole interview, he said that the team wants to win for Nolan and when he left they literally said, "well our season is over." They relaxed cause they knew they were going to lose without him.
    • There is absolutely no doubt that Arenado does better at home than the road, it's hard to find a current Rockies player who isn't. What we are learning is that the truly good hitters are fine once they leave Colorado. The issue is not "oh I am a shitty player outside of Coors", it's that these guys struggle constantly adjusting to the different depth and movement they see when they are going back and forth. Holliday and LeMahieu being the best recent examples. The Rockies have done a good job of normally holding onto their stars, so the SSS is somewhat small.
I think if we could get Arenado, that would be awesome. It then leads to the question of whether or not the team thinks that Seager is a long term option for the organization. His defense at SS leaves a decent bit to be desired and the questions about his stamina to remain at the position are legit. I think the long term play would be to move Seager to 3B and look at either Lindor or Story for SS.
